Shaun Marcum

Gomez and Weeks back does two things:

1. Pushes Josh Wilson to the end of the bench, where he belongs

2 . Allows us to use Hairston in a super-sub role. Playing 3-5 times a week all over the diamond to give the starters a day off. I think he is best served in this role.

I hope we don't have trouble with another pitcher making his debut, let's keep the pedal down. If he's really limited to 55 pitches, I'm hoping he's out by the 4th inning. Unless he's grooving balls, it would be nice to see us take some pitches and work the counts a bit more than we normally do. 55 pitches can be chewed up in a hurry if you're having some long at bats. Either way, let's take this one!!

Nothing like Brewers baseball in the morning! Go get 'em Crew!

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

Anyone know if this game will be available to the Fox Valley?

Wouldn't the game be on FS-WI on cable systems outside of the Milwaukee market?

On DirecTV, the game is on 680, 680-1, 722, and 722-1. No HD on the "-1" channels, but depending on your receiver settings, you might prefer using those.

If you're able to receive Channel 58 over the air, the game should be on 58-2.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Hart steals second, and Hairston does his job to be sure Hart gets to third.

These first two at-bats are what the Brewers haven't been able to do for years, and even the first half of this year. These are the types of things that give me a lot of confidence in this team.

I can't imagine how nervous that kid must have been, particularly when Braun and Fielder were standing 60 feet away from him. Nice job pitching to Braun. Threw those last two inside off the plate, but close enough where he had to swing and get jammed.

If Yuni could learn to go with pitches, he could be a decent hitter. If he wouldn't try to pull every pitch he sees, he could shoot some through the right side or drive some into the right-center gap.

Just realized that the Brewers are playing 27+ innings in less than 24 hours

How?

my mistake, thought the DH was yesterday
I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Hope this game isn't one of those with the dreaded "Rookie Pitcher's First Start Curse" attached to it. Too many of those in the Brewers' past.

I agree with this completely. It's sad that the first thing that comes to mind any time a MLB Debut comes up is "well here comes 7 shutout innings". We never seem to just pound guys. This guy struggled in AA this year, his AAA numbers were decent in only 8 innings. This should be a pitcher that we score runs off of, and we still might. But this always seems to happen to us.

To make matters worse, Marcum just walked him too.

I'm watching the Pittsburgh broadcast and they interviewed the pitcher's family in the stands. Braun was up and there was a small part of me that hoped he wouldn't jack one out, because it would have been odd to have to watch them get all sad on the air. Also, it was a bit awkward because the mom and dad were sitting a few seats apart and mom obviously had her new husband/boyfriend next to her. They must really not get along if they can't even sit next to each other (or at least on either side of their younger kid) during their boy's MLB debut.

EDIT: Oh, and hey, Yuni pulls another pitch he shouldn't pull.

I'd love Hairston at short...after Weeks comes back. Hairston at short means Counsell/Wilson have to play second. And amazingly, I think they are both much worse than Betancourt is.

Marcum not looking sharp today. Hope we can keep this at 2 runs only and that the offense can put a rally together.
