Pittsburgh - What to do, Where to stay, What to see?

Baldkin

My father has decided that we (I'm 32, he's 64) are going to Pittsburgh leaving on Sunday. We plan to go to at least 2 Brewers games, and stay for 3-4 days. I am coming to the wonderful wealth of knowledge that is Brewerfan.net to ask the following:

Where should we stay?

Are there any places that are "must see"?

Any little known hideouts to visit?

Was in Pittsburgh for a couple days in January. Fun town, wish I had more time out there to explore it. We stayed at the Renaissance downtown, a short walk across the bridge from PNC. Check priceline, got a couple of rooms for $90/night, which was a steal.

The touristy thing to eat is Primanti's, which I wasn't terribly impressed with. It was just okay. Didn't get a chance to do a ton of sightseeing, but did take a trip up the incline. Great view of the city from Mt. Washington. Carson Street is one of the big bar areas we visited. Fatheads had great wings and bar food. If you're into a good beer list, Smokin Joe's had a really nice selection.

Also, cabs are damn near impossible to come by. Try to take public transit, or leave at least 30 minutes to wait for a cab.

I second the Renaissance, if you can swing it. With a room on the ballpark side, you can see some of the action at PNC, plus getting to a game basically can't be easier. The inclines (there are two) are neat. Another thing I enjoyed was the Andy Warhol Museum, and I'm not all that into Andy Warhol.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I would recommend staying at The Westin Convention Center in Pittsburgh. It's where the team stays while they're there and you'd have a good chance of meeting some players. I got in a couple minute conversation with Prince and Mike Cameron, got to see the entire team hanging out in the lobby before going to dinner, saw Yovani, Villanueva, and Uecker getting nice and liquored up in the hotel bar, and even got stuck in an awkward elevator ride with a slightly intoxicated Telly Hughes.

The incline is sort of cool. It's definitely unique and it takes you up to a great view and some decent sort of dive-like restaurants that we enjoyed.
