Because it's a 1-0 game and we need this run, and Estrada was probably going to go only one more inning anyhow.
Estrada can't bunt?
Not as well as Greinke, no. So if he's coming out of the game anyhow, have your best pitcher at bunting...bunt. No problem at all with this move, very smart baseball actually.

Your reason for pulling him an inning early was for offensive reasons... which was to bunt... now your reason for sending him in to bunt was that they're pulling him early. Circular argument.

I don't agree with pulling a pitcher that's cruising at this point when he might be your best option to get a quality start and save a reliever.

To those making fun of Williams talking about getting batters out with balls and not strikes, come on. You know what he's talking about. The 96% thing is hyperbole.

That's what I thought at first, but he's so insistent on it that I don't think it is hyperbole. I think he really believes it's very rare to get someone out on a strike.

Edit. Cmon Braun, you're better than that.

Braun just cannot take walks... I wonder if he's ever gonna grow out of this thing, or if he's always gonna be a .920 OPS guy instead of a 1.000 OPS guy?

What do you think his OBP should be in comparison to his BA?

You pull him so his arm doesn't rip off.

You really need to stop trying to argue against pulling Estrada. He was only going to go about 5 because he's not stretched out. So regardless of whether or not his spot was coming up in the order, he was done. RR putting in his best bunting pitcher was a very smart move, since he didn't have to waste a pinch hitter.

I'm wondering if RR might think about keeping Saito in since it was such an easy inning.
I think that every time Saito has a quick inning, but I don't think we'll ever see Roenicke do it. It's like he thinks Saito's arm will explode if it throws more than 20 pitches in a game.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was initially arguing that they should not pull him soley for offensive reasons when you're going to bunt anyways. If they're pulling him anyways, of course that was a good move.

I just thought he could have gone an extra inning since he was cruising with a relatively easy road. I'm glad Saito had an easy inning, proving the move decent. I admit I'm not all that familiar with the difference between 60 some and 70 some pitches for a normal reliever. I do, however, think the Brewers should stay aggressive with a lead in the division, and we've seen RR a bit conservative.
