Still waiting for Hairston to do something to earn the love that he gets around here.

He's had 25-26 at bats for the Brewers so far (incredibly small sample). He still has a .328 OBP on the season which is better than McGehee, Counsell, Betancourt, Kotsay, Lopez, & Wilson

And he is a better defender than all but Counsell probably

True, and he is way down the scale of veteran grit.

Maybe they can talk Jeff Cirillo into a comeback. At the age of 41 he has plenty of veteran grit. He could probably hit better than McGehee right now, and at the very least he'd be a better fielder and a faster base-runner than Casey
