Oh yeah, forgot Maholm was lefty. Yay, another Lopez start.

I had to laugh at the pitching matchup graphic on FSN last night. In about 40 fewer innings, Greinke had far more strikeouts and far fewer walks than Maholm, yet Maholm's ERA is about 7 tenths of a run better.

Those are quite possibly the worst BVP splits I've seen for Fielder (4 hits in 45 ABs, 2 BBs, 15 Ks, .250 OPS). In fact, after looking it up on Baseball Reference, that's the lowest OPS Prince has vs. a pitcher(minimum 20 PAs)

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

I don't think he needs a night off unless he's really struggling and he certainly is not struggling. That guy can play 162 this year.

Can't take the foot off the gas pedal now. This is a game we should win. At home, against the Pirates who we've owned last few years, and with our most talented pitcher. Hopefully we take care of business.

This is a game that has two really important aspects with the Estrada start tomorrow:

1 - it would be huge if Greinke can go a long way tonight, at least 7 innings. Rest the pen for what should be a lot of innings tomorrow

2 - gotta get a W here, with Estrada going tomorrow, that game is probably penciled as a loss for me right now, so winning tonight is imperative

I have no complaints with that lineup. Other than the on-going annoyance that Jon Luc should be hitting higher in the order, but that's something I've accepted at this point in the season.

You know when Melvin said he was looking to get another outfielder? Maybe Hairston is that outfielder.

Glad to see Lopez out of the lineup. With Lopez, Counsell, Wilson, McGehee, and Betancourt the Crew really does have a plethora of sub-par infielders. You have to assume Lopez will be gone soon

Lopez wouldn't go anywhere until either Weeks or Gomez comes back, nless he really really blows (not that he's good now but he's still here). That will likely be September and in that case, you might as well just hang onto him with the expanded rosters.

In about two and a half more weeks, Green and Gamel should both be on the bench, and I imagine Lopez and Wilson will receive pretty minimal playing time at that point.
Are you aware of a manager switch taking place before then?! That's not the Roenicke way.

Agreed. If they haven't called up either by now while Lopez and Wilson continue to get starts, I don't see them starting over the "veterans" once they are called up. They'll likely get the sporadic PH appearance every 4 games but that's it. I hope I'm wrong but for some reason the organization believes rookies will be terrible no matter who they are.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.
