Brewers break season attendance record (reply #58)

Brewers' record for a season was obviously '08 when they sold 3,068,458 tickets. This season, through 66 games they are sitting at 2,453,617 tickets sold... or 614,841 tickets short of the record. With 15 remaining home games .. the Brewers would need to average 40,989 fans per game in order to break that record. Plausible? No. Possible? Kind of.

I'm not sure why I'm so interested in breaking the attendance record this year ... but it feels like we are suppose to. We need to sell out from here on out ...

Splitting hairs with the definitions of the words, I'd say that it's both plausible and possible that the Brewers could break the record, but not probable. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I thought I'd read a quote from Rick Schlesinger that indicated the Brewers did not necessarily expect to top the 2008 record, but did expect to reach 3 million. That would give them leeway for some under-40K crowds. Indeed, here is the brewers.com link.

10,000 tickets sold per day lately. That sounds impressive to me.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

By my calculations we would need to average 40,990 per game for the remaining of the regular season to beat our 2008 attendance totals and so far since the all-star break we have averaged 41,481 a game. Hopefully we can set an attendance record this year!

I'm sure we'll see big numbers for the Cards series this week and the Phillies series in a couple weeks too, the only thing I can see happening is once we clinch the numbers may drop a bit being we play the Pirates and the Reds as the last 6 games of the season but hopefully we will be close to catching Philly for the #1 seed at that point!

Just wondering, if we have clinched by the last series, or before, people may still show up, as playoff tickets will be hard to get unless you are a season ticket holder.

I had to switch out my final weekend games for two of the Pirates game, due to being out of town. Obviously, I hope we are in by then, but would still go, just to soak it up.

A little off topic, I tried to google it but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how to find the 10 largest crowds in Miller Park history?
Go here, sort by attendance and manually remove away games. Then repeat for every year in Miller Park history and keep track of the top 10

I don't think clinching to early will be a problem, There may be a race for home field advantage, Braun going for the batting title, best home record of all time, a chance of 100 wins and for those who can't make it to the playoffs a chance to say bye to Prince.

Also the Thursday game vs the Phillies goes up agaist Green Bays opener is close to sro.

That day is one of the BP come on back club promotion games. That's how I got tickets to it...I remembered later it was opening day. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif But still plan on going.

Remember what Yoda said:

Let me know if you see a mistake; I won't be offended. My Excel capabilities are limited. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Clearly an EXTREME long shot, but the Brewers could technically tie for the best home record in the Modern Era. They'd just have to win their remaining 15 home games http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif. But really though, I still think the last series or two will sell really well. It will be a lot of people's last chances to see the team as playoff tickets will be hard to come by, plus it would be cool to say you saw the Brewers 60th home win, should that be a possibility.

IIRC, that was game 4 of the 4 game sweep by the Cubs that year. Leaving the stadium that day was one of my least favorite days ever.

I don't understand that top one. I clearly remember going to opening day against the Dodgers in '07 when Sheets went off. Bill Hall hit a home run. I also remember them announcing the crowd as the largest in the history of the the stadium. They lied to us?

Thanks for the list, Casey.

I noticed it doesn't include the postseason, as the NLDS games against the Phillies would rank #37 and #39 on that list.

I'm guessing they sold less tickets because of room needed for media personnel.

Based on the lines I've seen at Miller Park's ticket window (I waited 35 minutes in line yesterday afternoon), and from what I've overheard while in line, I think 14 of the final 15 games will be sellouts. The lone exception (and it'll be close) will be Thursday.
