Extras (TV Series)

JoeH33

I was wondering if any of you guys were fans of Ricky Gervais' new tv series "Extras?" I enjoyed his BBC version of the Office emensly, but have yet to see Extras. I was thinking of buying the first season off of Amazon, but thought I'd at least ask some of you guys what you thought of the show first.

Yeah Extras is a great show I own the 1 season dvd very good. Looking forward to season 2 coming out on dvd eventually. Yes the naked lady pen ep was awesome. I have heard rumors of a possible 3 season or a "special" much like Gervais did with The Office.

I thought the Ian McKellen scenes were hilarious (though that episode as a whole wasn't that great).

"How did I know what to say? They had my lines written down on a script. How did I know where to stand? People showed me."

I also liked when David Bowie improvised a song about Andy (Gervais) in a bar:

Andy: [complaining about his sitcom] ...I think I've sold out to be honest. It's difficult to keep your integrety....

David Bowie: [singing] Little fat man who sold his soul / Little fat man who sold his dream / Chubby little loser / Chubby little loser / No, no not chubby little loser... / Pathetic little fat man / No one's bloody laughing / The clown that nobody laughs at / They all just wish he'd die / He's so depressed at being useless / The fat man takes his own life / no no, he's so depressed at being hated / Fatty takes his own life... / Fatty? Fatso?

Maggie: Fatso, I like fatso

David Bowie: Yeah, let's go with fatso / Fatso takes his own life / He blows his bloated face off / No, he blows his stupid brains out

Linda: But the **** would probably miss

David Bowie: Yes, Linda, I like that.

Andy: [sarcastic] Yes, so do I. It's brilliant Linda.

David Bowie: He sold his soul for a shot at fame / Catchphrase and wig and the jokes are lame / He's got no style / He's got no grace / He's banal and facile / He's a fat waste of space / yeah, yeah, everybody sing that last line, one, two, three / He's banal and facile / He's a big waste of space / See his pug-nosed face / Pug-pug pug-pug / Again / See his pug-nosed face / Yeah / Pug-pug pug-pug / Again / See his pug-nosed face / Pug-pug pug-pug / The little fat man with the pug-nosed face / Little fat man / Got no space / He's a little fat man / With the pug nosed face / Pug-pug pug-pug ....

My favorite part: Ian's explaining how he *isn't* actually the character from the movies, and only *acts* like them when he's acting, and walks his fingers across the table while saying..

"Sir Ian, Sir Ian, Sir Ian, Sir Ian, YOU SHALL NOT PASS! Sir Ian, Sir Ian, Sir Ian."

Classic.

The episode where Patrick Stewart is describing his ideas for a movie where various female characters' clothes fall off is priceless.

"She tries to cover up, but it's too late - I've seen everything!"

I heard a rumor of a 3rd season, however.

The one where Harry Potter was trying to have sex with every woman was pretty funny too.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006
