2011-08-02 Cardinals (Garcia) at Brewers (Marcum) [Brewers lose, 8-7, 11 innings]

It just seems like an odd time to put Wilson into the lineup. He doesn't play for 2 weeks, then you use him today, in a lineup that already doesn't have Morgan due to the lefty on the mound. This is like half a JV team.

So putting any of our other options at 2B makes that big of difference? Who do you want? Counsell or Lopez? And seeing there are mostly regulars in there I am baffled at the JV comment. Guess you are one of the JSonline guys mentioned in the other post.

Put me in the camp that takes offense to this as well. The guy was just stating his opinion and you are trying to tear him down? Like I've said before, you seem like the one who belongs in the jsonline section, not anyone else.

edit: and yes Lopez would be a better option than Wilson since he has actually been playing. If you want to get Wilson some at-bats, it should be in place of those times when Counsell starts.

So let me gets this straight. Casey and Yuni get bashed over and over yet Lopez and his awful stats the last couple of years are better than what? Point was Wilson was the flavor of the week just recently and now he should never play? Opinions change so fast here, it is hard to keep things straight. Regardless of who plays, there is little difference and was confused by the JV lineup. Without Weeks and not having Morgan because of the lefty, this is just about the best lineup we have. 2b will be a downgrade until Weeks gets back and like Kotsay, Wilson and Counsell may get a start from time to time. Lopez will go 0-16 and then there will be complaints that he is in the lineup. Nobody can have a bad stretch or there should be changes immediately. I think RR does a great job of getting guys in and it's hard to complain with the results.

Fixed your formatting for one. And nobody is saying anything about a bad stretch or anything. Again, this is not the jsonline board, we are informed over here (for the most part). As an example from earlier in the year, we all wanted Morgan/Gomez in CF and not Kotsay. But wait, Kotsay went like 4-6 over 2 games. We didn't care about because he was still the lesser player. We want the better player to get the start. Guys will go through bad stretches and we understand that. However, from a talent standpoint Lopez > Wilson. How much > is up for debate.

And getting guys playing time doesn't matter if they are terrible. Should we be benching Hart/Braun/Morgan to get Kotsay/Carroll/Almonte/whatever other inferior OFs we had for more playing time? No, that would be stupid. Some guys just shouldn't be getting many starts period and unfortunately, we have quite a few guys who fall into that category (Counsell, Wilson, Kotsay). You could argue that is Melvin and not Roenicke. But when Roenicke gives Wilson/Counsell/Kotsay starts over better players like Hairston/Lopez, then yes, we will complain.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

Marcum's ERA is 3.33, not 4.50.

Edit: And he's 10-3. Looks like Greinke's stats entering yesterday's match.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

On the flip side, we've got tomorrow's W-L record up already!

My favorite part of last night? The civil war in-fighting between Cards fans on the various forums, between those who have taken the Chicken Little, season's-over approach, and the "Cards till I die, LaRussa apologists", losing their mind over our inexplicable form! From suggestions of sign stealing to paying off umps to I'd rather lose than win with Plush, it was all hugely entertaining! C'mon boys, how about another game like yesterday for some free Missourah fireworks?

What's this business with La Russa filing a formal complaint about Miller Park's lighting? This is just too good to be true!
It never ends does it? LaRussa is looney tunes (but still classy)
He was upset that his transitions lenses didn't change color.

As much as I'd like a convincing win also, I really want Plush to come off the bench late with a walk off HR to win it. Then, I want him to pull a Carlos Guillen on his way to 1st and threaten to eat La Russa's grandchildren on the way (Mike Tyson style but with grandchildren instead). Let's see how fun Wednesday would be against this classy, conspiracy theorizing team!
