Meh - it was OK.

I htought the funniest part was Ryan knocking the bridal bouquet away from the Indian girl (Mindy?)

Mindy Kaling is her real name, she was also in 40 Year Old Virgin. On the show her name is Kelly Kapoor. Tonight episode was decent, not the greatest. The best thing about this show is an episode never sucks there are always some good parts and they are usually pretty solid. Still the best half hour of tv on. The Creed bit was great, a lot of the Michael antics were funny. I liked the stuff with Tobey and the girl her brought as well as Kevin's band. Good stuff.

A lot of funny stuff in there but Michael's antics just makes me cringle sometimes. As socially disfunctional he is, he could never hold down a job, much less be a successful salesman and a regional manager. I know realism isn't exactly the point but they don't generally push all the other characters as far as they do with Michael. Well, Andy too.

Another solid episode this week, but I am definately souring on the whole Pam/Jim thing. Frankly, I don't care if they end up together anymore. They have had more than enough chances. But I can tolerate the whole Pam/Jim sideshow...the rest of the show is strong enough to withstand.

I've thought that myself at times, but if you pay attention, the writers do a pretty good job of showing Michael as a competent employee as well. (The Convention - Michael secures a contract with HammerMill; Traveling Salesmen - Michael gives good sales pitch/Andy sabotages; The Client - Michael/Jan take client to Chili's, Michael gets the the client to stay with D/M.)

Michael is ridiculous, but when it comes down to it he nearly always gets the job done.

I think the show functions best when Michael is still a believable character. I don't know why they sometimes write him too socially out there. Its really not funny. This episode reminds me of the Dundees one that started season 2. A lot of people I talk to who don't watch the show claim this is the reason. They say they tuned in for that Season Premier and didn't think it was any good. This episode was more of the same, just not a premier thank god.

In my opinion, the show works because its characters are takeoffs of people we have all worked with. Sure they make them a little more over the top to make it even funnier, but the key is that they are just a "little" over the top. I know some think there can't possibly be anyone like Dwight, but there is a guy I work with who is just like him down to the part about using music to pump himself up before a big meeting or whatever. Scary!

When Michael is his normal self, it is believable. He is somewhat competent at his job, makes bad jokes, and likes to think that he is integral in the office whereas it would probably run better without him. Sounds like almost every boss I have ever had.
