The Boston Red Sox have traded for Seattle Mariners starter Erik Bedard, a major league source tells ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes.

The Red Sox obtained Bedard in exchange for Double-A catcher Tim Federowicz, the source said.

The deal was agreed upon just moments before the 4 p.m. ET deadline, according to the source.

Red Sox get: Erik Bedard, Joshua Fields

Dodgers get: Tim Federowicz, Juan Rodriguez, Stephen Fife

Mariners get: Trayvon Robinson
