Surprising Minor League Seasons

Considering how poor the Brewer minor league system is suppose to be, I thought it might be fun to identify five players who you think are having surprising seasons. They may not be prospects but they are excelling this year. Just maybe they are emerging as prospects.

 

My 5:

D'Vontrey Ricardson

Santo Manzanillo

Taylor Green

T.J. Mittelstaedt

Yadiel Rivera

I'd also throw Mat Gamel, Lee Haydel, Logan Shafer, and Erik Komatsu on the list. Gamel because of his dramatic improvement in K:BB ratio and continued success despite an organization without a clear plan for him. The 3 outfielders because the former has come from obscurity while the latter 2 have continued thriving at higher levels.

Everybody keeps saying that Michael Fiers is bullpen depth at best, and every year at every level he keeps giving no reason to not let him keep starting.

 

Nice to see Mike Walker add some power to his solid OBP.

 

Rob w00ten appears to have picked up right where he left off prior to TJ surgery.

 

Have to plagiarize Taylor Green off of someone else's list. Great to see him finally recovered, and a LH bat at a position of need is never a bad thing.

 

And did anyone expect this much out of a 3rd round pick? Thornburg, anyone?

I agree that Thornburg and even Kh Davis' dominance could be termed surprising. I'm surprised that Kentrail Davis hasn't shown more this year in Brevard, but I still got high hopes for him. And yes while Richardson's performance has been a plus, it's really only 29 games of cumulative positives at the moment.
