The Astros are 1-9 in Lyles' starts this year, but he has taken a number of tough losses including three 5-4 decisions, two of which were quality starts.

The most painful was Lyles' most recent loss in which he pitched 8 1/3 innings and fell apart in the top of the 9th. I guess that is what happens when you play for a team like the Astros. I can remember being at a similar game where Jamey Wright suffered that fate back in '01 or '02. Wright had at least 10 strikeouts and was up by 1 going for the complete game in the 9th.

Holy crap; the Astros are 35 games under .500? I didn't realize they were that bad.

Yeah the Astros have a chance to be historically terrible. Trading away Pence and Rodriquez could push them over the top.

It's a good thing we play them 9 more times then.

The 3 starting pitchers we face this series are a combined 7-28 with ERA's of 4.55, 6.12, and 4.66.

which, in years past, would mean getting swept by scores of 4-1, 5-0, and 7-0.

Anyways, I'm kind of surprised by putting Lopez in that 5-spot, but who else are you going to put there? McGehee has been doing "better" since getting out of the pressure of the 5-hole. Betancourt? I don't think so. Kottaras? Don't make me laugh.

And if you move somebody from the 1-3 spots down there, then you, obviously, have to move someone else up.

I'm hoping for a nice comfortable easy (i.e. 4 run-margin or larger) victory tonight that I can just enjoy for being a win rather than having to chew my nails down to Franklin Stubbs worrying about it.

They are running a couple of games behind the pace of the 2002 Brewers.

Nice to miss Norris & Wandy. Those two have been their only chances to win. We may miss Wandy again in the next series too...he usually seems to be a tough matchup for the Crew. Of course, who knows what this team will look like after this weekend.
