Lopez is horrible and he's a total dipwad in the clubhouse. I cannot believe they are bringing him back. He's been run out of more clubhouses than.... well... anyone.

Kid wasn't calling Time out brenly....he was giving the Tony Plush sign......get with it man!
I saw that too. Somebody should tell Plush about that kid in a tweet.

Ryan Braun's logic: My OPS is almost 1.000. I should probably hit a double right about now.

Why would they send him to AAA? He should be everyday 2B right now.
Well the obvious answer is that he stinks and people just fondly remember his half a season here that was largely meaningless in the grand scheme given the state of the pitching staff.
Seeing as he's still better than Counsell and Farris I don't really care.

Could Lopez be a piece to send to Los Angeles if we would take one of their infielders? The "send him to AAA then evaluate" quote from Melvin seemed fishy.

He seemed ok last time he was with the Brewers. He's a good friend of Weeks so maybe that keeps him in check. We've got a pretty decent clubhouse. A bigger issue is it will only add to our defensive problems...he's prone to some lapses in judgment.

Farris is at least an excellent defender, Lopez literally brings nothing to the table anymore.

I'm fine with acquiring players like Lopez for insurance. Sometimes bringing a guy into a new clubhouse with a pennant race going on will wake him up. There's no guarantee that Furcal is going to be able to hit either, his 2011 numbers are horrible as well.

That was 2 years ago. It's not like it was back in 2004 or something. Lopez is definitely an upgrade over Counsell. He has more hits this season despite spending most of the year in the minors. The 'clubhouse cancer' bit is overplayed too. I don't remember hearing one bad thing about him.

So who do we got fir the back of the pen if we get to that? Axford and KRod for three straight days?
I was thinking they would probably be content to pitch KRod until his arm falls off like Sabbathia and they've used Axford 3 days in a row before so it will probably be the usual. If not, I think 7-8-9 go Hawkins-Loe-Saito.

WGN with the closeup of Marcum's crotch only to pan up once they realized the zipper was down.
You have to have something to talk about when your team is as horrible as the Cubs. I remember Daron and Bill once spent multiple innings discussing the use of strawberries on a salad back in the 2004 season. It was more interesting than the baseball.

BA said yesterday that Roenicke was going to use KRod to close if one is needed and have Axford rest. Yeah it doesn't make sense but RRR thinks Axford isn't as durable.

Or K Rod is a rental and they're going to use him more than a guy that will be on the team for the foreseeable future.

It's possible it was his way of saying "I don't mind overworking our half year rental but our franchise closer, different story"
