Carlos Zambrano

7-5, 4.70

Zambrano picked up his first win since returning from his stint on the disabled list on Friday against the Astros. The right-hander threw six innings, giving up two runs on nine hits and fanning three.

Zack Greinke

7-4, 4.84

Two fastballs spoiled an otherwise solid start in Arizona, but Greinke may finally be in a groove. Each of his last three outings has been a "quality" start, including his loss on Thursday, which was decided by two D-backs home runs.

Some friends of ours are bringing their daughter to her first MLB game tonight (unless you count her in-utero experience last September when Trevor Hoffman recorded his 600th save). Save us, Zack Greinke, and don't let little Eleanor down!
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Do they realize that most Carlos Zambrano MLB games are rated PG-13? I'm not one to tell other people how to raise their children, but this could seriously affect that girl's childhood.

Don't worry, Big Z only smashes Gatorade dispensers in Spanish, so she probably won't understand his tirade!

Hopefully Greinke will not allow a HR tonight. This may be a long shot considering he has given up 13 in his last 10 starts. He is just so unlucky....

He was solid last start, but today I want to see domination. Let's get a shut out tonight against the Scrubs! Sad that the last shut out by the Brewer's was June 10th with Narveson starting.

Greinke's gotta be careful with the meatballs tonight. As I'm sure Rock will remind us 17 times in the 1st inning, the Cubs ambush fastballs, and he was leaving them over the plate in Chicago and got rocked.

OTOH, look at Fielder's slash line vs Z. Wow. I predict he snaps out of the homer-less funk tonight.

I was tinking about the possibility of a Z meltdown tonight, but it seems like there isn't enough of a reservoir of potential energy built up to really fuel a good one tonight. The Cubs being out of it has kind of drained some of the mojo. Of course we could always get one of those games that due to calls, breaks and an incident or two could also take on a life of its own. Just hoping for a good solid win. Or a Greinke perfect game. I'd take that, too.

You put that unlucky comment in blue as if a joke, but Grienke has a 2.88 era in the month of July with 35 strikeouts in 25 innings over 4 starts, more than hinting the stat heads were right when they predicted Grienke's bad start was largely attributable to bad luck. And last start he gave up 2 runs in 7 innings. I'll take that from any starter in MLB any night of the week.
