Ian Stewart, 3B, Rockies

Ian Stewart of the Rockies seems to be someone in need of a change of scenery. He still only 26 and hits lefthanded.

Not so much just as a replacement for Casey this year, but looking like for Ian to turn it around and become our 3B of the future.

What would it take to get him from the Rockies?

Stewart's an interesting guy. Defesnively, UZR/150 suggets he's below average, Plus/Minus suggests he's average and fan scouting suggests he's above average. In any case, he'd be an upgrade over Casey in that respect.

He strikes out, a lot. And Stewart should never, ever be allowed to face a LHP, so you're probably looking at a platoon if you want to maximize the value out of the position. And he's going to make close to $3M next year if he goes to arbitration again. Would you want to pay him and someone else (McGehee?) to man the position?

Also not sure if Colorado would want to unload him now, when his value is so low. On the flip side, he's hitting even worse than McGehee is right now. You'd be taking a risk on the remainder of season upside.

Good idea, though.
