2011-07-17 Brewers (Marcum) at Rockies (Cook) - [Brewers win, 4-3]

33 AB are not predictive. Not compared to the hundreds upon hundreds where he stunk before this. There is no way we should look at a measly 33 AB instead of those hundreds and make any kind of meaningful decision.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Weeks 5 is just dumb.

He's one of your 3 best performers, so you move him down 4 spots in the order, to limit his at bats.

Prince doesn't need 'protection'. Protection is almost wholly a myth. It's unsubstantiated, and full of holes. If 'protection' were real, Prince wouldn't have 22 bombs and 73 RBI with McGehee and Betencourt hitting behind him.

To mirror what Logan said, Weeks hitting 5th isn't a good thing, it's just that RR did it yesterday, and got lucky.

Weeks hitting 5 is good because we need someone to take advantage of Prince's .421 OBP and get another shot at Braun's .396 OBP before we enter the blackhole of Yuni/McGehee. Prince has only scored 32 non-HR runs this seasons because the guys behind are sucking it up.

Weeks is on pace to hit 31 HRs but only have 70 RBI this season, which would be a waste of his run producing potential. He also has a .347 OBP this year and .359 over the past 1.5+ seasons, which is nothing amazing for the top of the order.

Kotsay has 33 AB's, Gomez has 10 AB's this month. Gomez has 3 hits, 2 of which were on July 1 against Liriano. Kotsay has been hitting well as of late, so I really can't complain about him being in the lineup.
In terms of predictive value, 33 AB's is really no more useful than 10 AB's. Why should we focus on what a player has done in the past week rather than the past three years? Any reasonable projection has Gomez hitting nearly as well as Kotsay, some have Gomez hitting better. He also doesn't let line drives go through his legs in the outfield like Kotsay (that's line drives, plural).

To be fair he didn't let a couple line drives go through his legs. They were no hit hard enough to be line drives.

So Braun reaggravated his injury yesterday? I depise the Brewers' medical team with a passion.

Can we not just let players get fully healed before they come back? Baseball does not lend itself to playing hurt.

My lineup today would have been:

Morgan - CF

Hart- RF

Weeks - 2B

Fielder- 1B

Kotsay - LF

McGehee - 3B

Kottaras - C

Wilson - SS

Why does everyone around here seem to think Casey McGehee is a major league baseball player? He is hitting worse than Jason Kendall this year, he should NEVER play at ANY TIME EVER, but if he has to he really needs to be buried in the 8 hole.

I agree. Braun shouldn't be playing if he can't make it through a full game feeling good.

Anyone else find it odd that the Brewers have worn the road grey tops for this entire series? Those are the tops they wear the least, usually they go for the blue "Milwaukee" tops on the road. Just found that interesting.

Bill just said it's supposed to be in the upper 90's in Denver today, maybe that's why.

Yeah, if I was the SP I would go with gray in that heat.

Ah yes, that would make sense then.
