Nick Swisher

The Yankees hold an option on him for next year, and without looking I thought it was for roughly 10 million.

I think it's about 50/50 they pick up that option. I suspect they'll be in on Beltran next year to play RF for them. So in the event that they were to decline the option, who'd be in favor of going after Swisher for 3/30? Obviously in conjunction with that, you'd have to shop Corey Hart which I'd have absolutely no problem with.

I think plugging the switch hitting Swisher into the #2 hole would go a long way to balancing out our lineup and his 13.4 BB% would look great in front of Braun, Gamel and presumably Weeks.

Not to mention, it'd be one step to improving this laughably bad defensive team we're throwing out there...which is just killing our starting pitching.

So what would it take to get him and what would we be able to get for Hart in this scenario?

I'd be interested in a 3/30, though i wouldn't trade Hart. I'd move Hart to LF, put Swisher in RF, and move Braun to 1B

Weeks/Morgan/Swisher/Braun/Hart/Gamel(3B)/Jon-Luc/SS/P

Under this scenario, I'd just as soon have Green play 3B and deal Gamel, since you're getting power numbers from Swisher anyway.

I would trade Hart just because I don't really trust him, and I think he's got a nice enough contract that you could get something back for him.

I'd like to make our lineup a lot more balanced.

Morgan

Swisher SH

Braun

Gamel *

Weeks

Green*

Lucroy

SS(Furcal,Carroll...)

Not !%!!#% in the lineup and while we don't have anyone replacing Prince, Swisher over Hart, Green over McGehee, SS over Beteancourt and then Gamel would make up that gap IMO.

And our pitchers would thank us.

I remember when the Yankees wanted Cameron from us when we were maybe going to try and get Swisher for him. That would have been a nice trade.
Swisher was never even on the table for the Brewers only the Brewers taking on all of Cameron's salary and taking junk back AKA Melky Cabrera.

Cameron for Melky Cabrera would have been a great deal long term. Cabrera's still only 26, and he's hitting .295/.333/453. He's on pace for about 18 HR, 80 RBI, and 40 doubles.

Cameron is on the verge of being released by his second team this year.

Cabrera is having a fluky year I expect him to drop back down to what he did for the Braves last year which is nothing special or Gomez bad without the good defense.

I know this is a Swisher thread, but Cameron/Swisher/Hart/Cabrera have all been intertwined into the discussion and this statement sums up my feelings on Cabrera.

As for Swisher, I love this guy. While he may not hit .280, his ability to draw a walk and play defense would be a welcome addition to this club. I agree with TwinsBrewers...Move Braun to 1B, Corey to LF and sign Swisher to play RF and that would be a pretty nice acquistion.

I guess I find it more likely that the Brewers would invest in Swisher only if they were able to move Hart for a nice prospect or two.

But in the event they did rotate some of the guys, I'd much rather Hart move over to 1st base and give us that massive wingspan over at 1st and just leave Braun in LF. That way you have two substantial upgrades defensively rather than just one.

Hart should presumably be a big time upgrade at 1st base, Swisher a very nice upgrade in RF, and then Hart should be roughly the same in LF as he was in RF.
