Eric Bedard

I can't see him being a salary dump though. He's having a very good year.

3.27 FIP, 8.5 K/9...

I just don't see any reason they'd want to dump him. A team like the Yankees will likely offer up a B prospect for him as they have to know that the likes of Colon and Garcia aren't going to give them a 2nd half like their 1st.

Would him or Narvy make a good LOOGY? Doesn't Narveson get worse as the game goes on? I think it could work....maybe.

You wouldn't make a successful starter with a 3.00 ERA and 8.5 K's per 9 a loogy. I don't think it'd make sense to make Narveson a loogy, but certainly not Bedard.

There's no way Bedard will be a salary dump. The reason for that is that his salary is $1 million. There are some incentives in the deal but they're likely the same kind of incentives he had in past years (games, days active, innings pitched) meaning he isn't likely to earn that many of them.

I like the idea of getting him though. On the other hand, I wouldn't relish having to count on him down the stretch (or in the playoffs (hopefully)).

Bedard has #1 stuff when healthy, I see no way the Brewers even have shot at him.

And when was the last time he was healthy?

Most of this year......

Either way, what are you saying? He doesn't have to have a health history of Nolan Ryan in order to be valuable. And he's a complete waste to us. He doesn't have a great injury history, so there is some risk, and we'd have to give up a lot to get him. And for what? To upgrade our #5 spot? Maybe our #4 marginally?

I would be open to the idea of trying to sign him this offseason if the price was right. I'm not sure if trading wolf would be possible, but either way if he's affordable he would be good. Narvy could be bullpen help and there if/when bedard gets hurt.

I think at this point, trading Wolf would not only be possible, but it would yield a solid prospect.

He's put up a 3.96 ERA for the Brewers, threw 215 innings last year, and is on pace to throw over 200 this year. With one year left on his deal, should we choose to trade him, it wouldn't be difficult to find takers.

By and large, the way Wolf's pitched, we need him. He's been pretty darn solid. Say what you will, but a 3.50 ERA in spite of our shaky defense behind him is nothing to sneeze at. He's also been notably more steady than Narveson. . . . . So I don't see any realistic way trading Wolf would make the Brewers a better team.

(...And b/c Prince is heading to FA regardless, I still don't have any faith that clearing Wolf off next year's payroll will have any real impact on our ability to re-sign Prince, esp. given all the other holes the Crew will likely have to fill.)

I do like the idea of the Brewers getting Erik Bedard if they can possibly do so. But Bedard over Wolf isn't a massive upgrade compared to Bedard over Narveson.
