2011-07-14 Brewers at Rockies - [Milwaukee, Gallardo, blasted 12-3]

An opposing team's announcer (I believe it may have been the Reds) suggested the Brewers drastic home/away play shoots up red flags to him of stealing signs at Miller Park. When I heard this, I poo-pooed it, but whenever we play miserable in road series it always is in the back of my mind.

Nice cheer by the Rockies fans at the end of the game. Part of me thinks the cheer was a much an expression of relief that they didn't have to watch Milwaukee play any more baseball tonight as it was being happy about a Rockies victory.

You can't blame DM at all he got two quality Starters and added a 4 time All Star. It not his fault that the Infield Defense is horrible, and Mcghee can't hit his weight.

Umm. That's like saying it wasn't Doug Melvin's fault that the Brewers had Jeff Suppan. I have given Doug plenty of Kudos for the big acquisitions that he pulled off, but he's the one who hasn't done anything to replace McGehee and acquired Betancourt as his primary SS without any sort of fallback plan. I would say it most definitely is his fault that the infield defense is horrible, maybe above anybody else.

Ahh, this is the brewers. The thing that gets me is people who think we are going to have a yankee or red sox like roster. By making the moves for the pitching we had to create ##%#*+ somewhere else. Going into the season 3b was not a concern and the rotation looked awesome. Melvin put together quite a team for the brewers. Casey has been awful, SS has been below average and pitchers like Greinke and Yo have been below expectation. Meanwhile Marcum has overall been good as well as Wolf. So I have no idea how you can put anything on Melvin.

This team is still really good. And in baseball you can change the way the season goes in a heartbeat. Those players listed above could get better or worse the rest of the year. You just don't know. We don't know who will be brought in from a trade. I am happy that Melvin went with pitching and has given us this team. I think we are getting spoiled now and any weakeness is just torn apart by people. We are still the brewers and we are going to have a weakness or two.

I am changing my prediction i saying a 3-8 Road trip.
that is awfully optimistic. after tonight, anything better than 1-10 seems like gravy. I'll take coming home with a record above .500 at this point. When the Twins were 20 games under with M&M on the DL, and the Brewers got to 9-10 games above .500, never thought i'd have see the Twins with a better record than the crew this season. Now, i can almost guarantee it.

If Doug doesn't replace Yuni and Casey by July 31st... he shouldn't be our GM next year. This is pathetic

Wow. Step off the ledge.

And I'd bet any amount of money that the Twins won't have a better record than the Brewers at any point this year.

I kind of agree with this part at this point. At least half of the equation is a no brainer at this point. I belive Melvin is actively looking for a SS upgrade, but that is easier said than done when it comes to trades in MLB.

What depressed me so far the Brewers have won only 15 road games so far so i am not optomistic that they will do better than 3-8 on this Road trip. The Brewers have not shown any indications of winning on the road, BY the way adam you do you expect that DM to trade for that SS and 3rd Baseman, unless you have someone in the minors in mind. I think Melvin did his JOB in getting two starters and it time the Players do their Job that they are paid for.

I think adam just meant that Doug should've known they were terrible defensively, which he should've. McGehee being putrid on offense is a surprise, but nothing about Betancourt's performance this year should surprise anyone.

I know it's beating a dead horse, but Taylor Green should be playing 3b everyday. Right now. At least until he proves he's as bad as McGehee. Seriously, what do we have to lose? It'd be very hard for Green to be as bad as McGehee, and almost unimaginable that he'd be worse.
