So we need some bench and some power for the bench. How about we go after Thome. Have him get 600th with us just like Hoffman and attract more fans. That would work. Easy pickup, though not sure of his salary. We just acquired Krod, so get Thome and a SS and were set for the postseason!

The Twins aren't getting rid of Thome. Don't see how he's be an easy pickup. Even if he were, he's not a good fit as an NL bench player. He's a DH. Period. He could play first in a pinch, but that's it.

Yeah, Thome would be worse than Kotsay in the field. I'd make the move if we were in the AL but he'd cost too much and basically would be good for one at-bat.
