2011-07-12 All-Star Game - AL (Weaver) at NL (Halladay) - NL wins 5-1; Prince MVP, with 3-run HR

I also never remove my cap. I do it as my protest to the singing of GBA. Right around the time we started doing GBA every week, we had to stop doing a 2nd round of Roll Out the Barrel. We were told that the 7th inning stretch was taking too long.
Robin19, you could practically stand in for my S.O.** For EVERY 7th inning stretch he hopes out loud for a "one more time" barrel round, and he's disappointed 99 percent of the time. (They do find time for it once in a blue moon.) I keep suggesting he should lower his expectations on Sundays at least, since they now have to cram three songs into the mid-inning break.

**Edited to clarify that jaderheyski has nothing to be concerned about. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif But Robin19 and my S.O. are the same kind of Brewers fan.

When did "God Bless America" become a second national anthem?

I think it speaks more to how uneducated our country has become as a whole on these matters. At our family outing last year my own mother started giving me grief in the right field loge seats because I didn't remove my hat. I said "It's God Bless America, it's not the national anthem and has nothing to do with the flag". Well then my aunts and uncles started chiming in as well as the people around us so I had to give a history lesson, but in the end I was wrong even though I was right.

It was supposed to be a nice tribute to the fallen and our troops in the field following 911, a very nice thought, but that's as far as it goes.

At least he'll leave a Little League field behind when he leaves Milwaukee!
I wonder if he can put that sum toward the Treyton Kilar Field of Dreams, or if it has to be in Milwaukee.

Well, Prince, this'll help your post-2011 resume.

The chevy guy needs to change his pants after that presentation...wow, was he nervous - "We want to bring the world to the baseball"

Prince's kids look nothing like him, especially the mohawk kid.....was Dave Martinez ever a Brewers coach in the mid 00's? (Sorry, bad Ryne Sandberg reference)

Well, we have a long 2nd half to see if we're going to make it or not, but if we do... at least we know we get to start at home in the World Series. Extra important for a terrible road team like the Brewers. It's too bad the chances of us locking up home field advantage throughout the playoffs are very slim. Miracles CAN happen, though.

a couple things that stood out for me . . .

1) Joe Buck sounded horrible. Doesn't sound recoved enough from whatever ailed him. He needed to sit this one out.

2) Brian Wilson's facial expression and tip of the top hat during the pregame intros had me giggling. I don't like the guy all that much but he does make me laugh.

3) Prince had a pretty good evening in the field, minus that dropped pop up. He should have let Weeks get it as he had a better angle and could have got to it if Prince peeled off. By the way, did any balls get hit to Weeks? I don't recall one but I was out working on the ribs on the grill several times.

4) I called the HR from Prince. About 2 pitches before the bomb, I shouted out to my wife, "Hey, I've never seen a Brewer hit a HR in the All-Star Game! I'd love to see that just once!" Afterward, when the celebrating in my house died down, I explained, "All right! Now I can die happy!"

5) Ugh, protests outside the park, Tucson remembrances, Cancer standing-up, booing throughout the weekend. This was a sorry and somber performance by my fellow Arizonans. Next All-Star event in 30+ years better be improved upon.

6) Prince seemed to constantly be adjusting his uniform, hat, himself, his hair, etc. every time he was on-camera both Monday and Tuesday. It was as if he was consciously trying to look his best for a National audience. I loved when he popped up behind the "Intentional Talk" set on Monday for an impromptu interview and constantly monkeyed with his hat before taking it off and putting it on backwards then, into the microphone for all to hear, said, "These hats suck."

7) Prince's kids looked like they wanted to take that Crystal bat and take some swings. I think dad knew it, too, because he was more worried about them than doing the interview.

8) The Chevy guy that gave Prince the check for $40k kind of dissed Milwaukee, calling it a "town" two separate times during the "interview."

Noticed this as well. Prince is definitely on a mission to improve his public relations this year. The looks are just a subtle sign, but he has definitely moved beyond the incidents that plagued his reputation earlier in his career. Of course Brewers fans knew he was a great guy all along, but improving his standing will not only get him a better contract this winter, but improve his overall legacy as well.
