Johnny Cueto

5-3, 1.77

Cueto has two complete games and two losses after he was dealt a 1-0 defeat in his stellar effort at St. Louis vs. Chris Carpenter. For the first time in 26 starts, Cueto did not strike out a batter as he focuses on forcing grounders.

Shaun Marcum

7-3, 3.32

Marcum was charged with four earned runs for his second straight outing on Monday. He struggled with his command and couldn't get in a rhythm on the mound, though he did help his own cause by hitting a grand slam.

This is going to be a tough one. It is important to get at least 1/2 this weekend and be at a high note going into the ASB. The post-ASB road trip is going to be hard, but maybe they can finally get off the rollercoaster and start fortifying a decent division lead.

Weeks 4

Morgan 8

Hart 9

Fielder 3

Kotsay 7

McGehee 5

Betancourt 6

Lucroy 2

Marcum 1

Just when I think Ron is getting smart he throws Kotsay back in the 5 hole.

Though I suppose it is to be expected now and given that he won't move Lucroy out of the 8 hole and they won't bring up Green this is about as good as we could have hoped for

Still no Braun. At this point they should just give him Sunday off as well and have him back to 100% for Thursday.

Who else should be put in the 5 spot today? Betancourt? McGehee? Lucroy? All 3 have their various flaws, why not just go with the hot bat?

Lucroy should be hitting there. Riding the "hot hand" and using your gut to manage is not the best approach IMO. He should be putting his best hitters in there instead of using a minuscule sample size to determine where he bats guys.
