Man, if Saito can start contributing I do think that's going to make a huge difference in our bullpen. Call me crazy, but I feel like all 6 guys we have out there right now can help the team win. Kam Loe being used in poor matchup situations not withstanding.
Agreed. I don't think our pen is that bad. The usage has been awful though. If RRR learns how to manage a bullpen they will be serviceable.

Yes, RR going with Hawkins in the 8th 2 days in a row! Do I sense a smart adjustment?

Not really. He's just using a different guy as the "8th inning guy". The same auto-pilot stupid managing philosophy that someone has a God-given right to the 8th is still there.

So you guys don't think it potentially hurts a player's development to waste time fighting over money? I think that's what's wrong with a lot of players today and part of why they do wash out. Nobody's saying you have to just take the first thing offered, but if you can get a reasonable deal and get to playing ball, it has to help you in the long run. You don't get behind the 8-ball with the organization right off the bat (you might even earn yourself some goodwill) and you get to playing ball.

Now, of course it's in the player's best short-term financial interest to get get as much as he can immediately, but that's not the whole picture. You have to separate the development side from teh fianancial side. If all you're worried about is the money, it's a differnt question. If you're a player in my organization and all you're worried about is the money, I probably look to move you at some point given a similarly talented option who isn't.

Yeah, I can remember the Nationals drafted this kid last year who didn't sign until August 15th because he just wanted a bunch of money. What was his name? Brent Harker? Boy he busted. I bet if he signed early he would have been alot better.
