Homer Bailey

3-3, 3.64

Facing the Indians on Saturday, Bailey allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits in seven innings while providing his first quality start since May 21 after spending much of the time in between on the disabled list.

Chris Narveson

5-5, 4.86

Narveson is coming off a start in Minnesota that was almost historically bad, a seven-run, 14-hit dud. It marked only the 11th time in Brewers history that a pitcher surrendered 14 hits or more, and the first time since 1995.

Interesting how RRR organized the bullpen.

It's possible that it's nothing, but he seems to start with the best in his mind and end with the mop-up guys. Axford in the 9th, Loe in the 8th, Estrada in the 7th, Saito and Hawkins in low leverage situations. At least that's how it seems to me.

Maybe Loe is still the "8th inning guy".

Mark Kotsay is protecting Prince tonight and Lucroy has been demoted to the #8 spot for some unknown reason. Perhaps it's Kotsay's career 1.000 OPS against Bailey? (1 for 3 with a double)

Why are you writing that in blue?

I know Lucroy has cooled off since May, but there's no reason he shouldn't be hitting up in that lineup.

Lucroy has been 8th for a while. It's stupid but at least Ron is doing it consistently.

He should be up in the batting order, esp with Braun out.

Yet again Gamel is wasting away on the bench and Gomez could be played instead of Kotsay. That is more what I am upset about. Really should be

Weeks

Morgan

Hart

Fielder

Gamel

Lucroy

Gomez

Yuni

Narv-Dog

Now that is a lineup I can get behind.

Most important series of the year? A sweep of the Reds coudl bury them and more importantly remove a potential SS suitor from the bidding.Good point
Good point. And with Reyes now on the DL, the price for SS just got higher

I don't see how Roenicke doesn't have them wearing Cerverceros everyday. They've had the most success in them. This would be like not starting McGehee today because he hit a HR yesterday or not starting Kotsay because of his career numbers against Bailey. He's doing both of those so why isn't he wearing the "winningest" jerseys?
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

Really hope Braun is healed up by tomorrow. It's pretty sad when Kotsay is the best option in the 5 hole. He is hitting well right now, but still it is brutal. Braun in 3 and Hart in 5 looks a lot better.
Kotsay is not the best option for the 5 hole. Kotsay is the best option to be DFA'ed. Just about everyone on both the Brewers and Sounds roster other than Wilson, Counsell & Betancourt is a better option for the 5 hole. I'd rather see Kottaras in the 5 hole and making his career OF debut than Kotsay. I'd rather bring Khris Davis up from A+ ball to hit in the 5 hole than Kotsay.

I've been just as down on him as everyone else. At the moment, he's 7/16 in July with a .750 SLG. That's not too bad. Sure he will drop off again, but for right now he's swinging a fairly hot bat. I don't want Yuni or McGehee in the 5 hole. Lucroy maybe, but with Braun out and Hart hitting 3rd the options are limited. I'd love to have Gamel in there hitting 5th too, but we all know Roenicke won't do that. With these players in the lineup on this day, Kotsay is probably the best option in the 5 hole sadly.

Yuni only 14 more SS injuries away from the all star team.

Can any of our stat mavens run this against the results of the sausage race? While I have a feeling it will point to going retro, they may have to kill the brat...he's having a worse year than Daniel Ray Herrera.
