Daniel Hudson

9-5, 3.49

Hudson pitched well enough to win his last time out as he allowed two runs over eight innings to the Indians, but had to settle for a no-decision after J.J. Putz blew the save. Hudson has not lost since May 12, a span of nine starts.

Shaun Marcum

7-3, 3.16

Marcum was burned by a four-run fourth inning in his loss to the Yankees on Wednesday, but at least he felt healthy. Marcum had pitched only four total innings in his previous two starts because of a left hip injury.

Game time is fixed.

Should be a good pitching match-up. Hudson's put up some surprisingly good numbers this year, but his game log isn't exactly filled with quality opponents, either. Should be nice to get back to playing NL teams.

Weeks 4 Morgan 8 Hart 9 Fielder 3 Betancourt 6 Kotsay 7 McGehee 5 Lucroy 2 Marcum 1

Well, pretty crappy lineup. But Roenicke had to get McGehee in there because he had a 3-3 game against Hudson a year ago. Enjoy that 0-4 today Roenicke. Betancourt hitting 5th is also horrendous. I'd rather just have Kotsay 5th, and preferably Gamel.

Well, that lineup dashes any hopes Casey would be sent down in favor of McClendon instead of Gamel later today. Considering both Casey and Yuni are in the lineup as well as Kotsay this looks like a Yostian B-Squad lineup. I'll be out at the park today hoping for the best. Get some runs!

So Prince with 4 walks today? Why would they throw him a strike with Betancourt behind him?

Would be much more comfortable with Lucroy batting 5th.

I thought McGehee was sitting for an extended period of time? Just don't understand why Gamel is here if he isn't going to play.

Yeah, if Gamel is staying up he should start at 3B every day against RHP. I don't care about 3 at-bats McGehee had against Hudson last year. He sucks this year, so he shouldn't play. Also, putting one of our worst hitters behind Fielder doesn't help. Hart, Kotsay, and Lucroy all would've looked better there. With Braun out I guess Hart has to hit 3rd, but still no reason to hit Betancourt 5th. I probably would've went Weeks Morgan Hart Fielder Lucroy Kotsay Betancourt McGehee Marcum if I had to start all these players.

Agreed. Even better would be

Weeks Morgan Hart Fielder Lucroy Gamel/Green Betancourt Boggs Marcum.

Either play Gamel or send him down. This guy is our #1 prospect at this point. I don't see much of a fit for him if he isn't going to play 3rd so send him down and let him be ready for next year.

Such easy fixes, but no one seems willing to pull the trigger. Hopefully there are some changes after the AS Break.

I'm not even that worried about the hitting. Even if you think Kotsay is marginally better offensively (and I don't), the defensive tandem of Morgan and Gomez is so far superior as to make the offensive dimension of the argument moot.

I agree guys, but Kotsay hit a HR yesterday so in Roenicke's eyes he is a great power-hitting bat.

Yesterday was probably the worst possible outcome for anyone hoping Kotsay would be cut.

In other words, it was a horrible day for all Brewer fans. All in all though, this is a home game. So that means it's a W.

No, at least he didn't misread a fly ball and then make a 'web gem' catch. His play in the 7th inning last night would have even been embarrassing for a little league ballplayer.

Offensively, Gomez is only marginally worse than Kotsay at this point. I would much rather see CarGo in CF with Morgan in LF than Morgan in CF with Kotsay in LF.

Not all of us have the talent to play MLB...but I'm guessing we all have more ambition than Corey Hart lately. Why is he so dang lazy on the basepaths over the last week or two? BA just called him out for it even...
