Updates: Yuku access and chat issues

As many of you know, Yuku has moved us to new servers and has pushed new chat software. There are issues with both.

- unable to receive email notifications

- unable to access chat (some members)

- Room name error when accessing chat (you can fix this one by deleting your chat room and creating a new one)

- appearance of a 'post to blog' feature above quick reply that does not work

- IPs are wrong in posts made since the switch

- IPs are wrong in the security logs

- Date of 13 Dec 1969 is shown on all log entries

- Unable to see avatars

- Unable to see some images, especially in skins from the library

- Uploading images shows them broken after upload

Contributions are not being applied automatically (we will be applying

them as soon as the boards are back up to speed). If you contributed to a

board that still had some gold, there is no need to submit a ticket,

but if you contributed specifically to get ads removed and you are still

seeing them, please do submit a ticket so that we can give you

priority. The same goes for supporter purchases.

- You are taken to an unexpected location after posting.

Please

submit a ticket for any issues you do not see on this list. We are

trying to reply to all tickets within 24 hours. If you have an urgent

issue, please make sure to title your ticket accordingly.

Again, thank you all for your patience while the issues are being sorted.

All boards across the network should be up and running now. We have two

known boards with problems, and they are being looked into.

 

Chat rooms are currently down, this too is being looked into.

to it, replying to your ticket will not make you lose your spot in the

Leave it alone for the time being. I'm hearing that avatars are reappearing, either through the efforts of staff or on their own.

 

If it persists for a couple more days, you should put in a help ticket. pretendastronaut has same thing is going on.

 

I'd definitely advise against changing avatars at this time. There's a known issue with image uploads. I can't see any images in my Yuku folders right now.

I think this is the same error I was getting before when I was unable to enter the chat.

 

Edit: hosted image elsewhere, apparently the Yuku image hosting is broken too.

As it turns out, the workaround isn't working for me, but you can give it a shot.

 

Most users won't see a reload button in the chat window. In Firefox for Windows, hitting F5 or CTRL-R would do a standard reload. CTRL-F5 would do a hard refresh (which bypasses your cache). Firefox for Mac would use Command-R for a standard reload and Command-Shift-R for a hard refresh.

 

If you want to have a reload button available, you can enter chat by its direct URL. That would open it in a new tab.

 

In addition to chat issues, some members are having trouble logging out.

• Right-click on the logout link and open it in a new tab.
  
• Log out from any page that has the new navigation bar, e.g. www.yuku.com. You can get to Yuku's main page by hitting the Yuku logo (http://static.yuku.com/output/bypass/images/yuku.gif) in the navigation bar.

The chat server was restarted about 1:30 this afternoon. I can get in, and I've heard that others are having success, too. Give it a shot if you have a moment.

I was able to get in when I tried about an hour ago. (I couldn't post, though, because of white pages.)

 

I'd keep trying. If you continue to be unsuccessful at getting in and there's nothing to indicate that it's a known issue or that others are having the same problem, it may be necessary to submit a help ticket.

Seeing lots of problems today. Just about every time I've tried to post, it just sits in limbo while the browser (FF 5.0) spins its wheels trying to post. I either see it stay in limbo or skip to a blank screen, or I'm kicked back to pg.1 of whatever topic I was reading, with no post made.

 

And just in general, the forums are loading really slowly. Also, if I reload the Greinke topic in the MLB forum, fondybrewfan's post #211 may or may not be there.

The logout problem continues for me, and yuku.com won't load at all, so the workaround that had been working for me isn't.

In case y'all thought I just never want to leave Brewerfan...well, maybe not, but I haven't been sitting here 24/7 - it only looks that way.

Yup...that too; occasional white screens; and the chat wasn't available early in the game (though it is now). Yuku being Yuku, is my guess.

Based on what I'm hearing from others around the system, chat appears to be out of commission. I can't get past the black "connecting" screen. If others would care to quickly check and report back, it'd be appreciated.

Having the same issue. Seems like the new chat is just not very reliable in general.

Chat should be working again. It appears to me that it exits stage left when Yuku does pushes to deal with other issues.

Possibly complicating matters for me is that I haven't been able to log out of Yuku for the last week.

While there, hit the "Delete all sites" button in the control panel at the top. That would dump any Flash information that might be stored on your computer. Clearing that has been known to help some people with access issues.
