Randy Wolf

6-4, 3.20

Since an 0-2 start, Wolf is 6-2 with a 2.75 ERA in 14 starts, nine of them team wins. The ERA would be lower if not for a three-batter run in the fifth inning Friday capped by a three-run Twins homer.

At least for better or worse, Gamel at 1B will give us a reason to keep watching if the game gets out of hand early. Kottaras catching was to be expected with the early start time and Wolf on the mound, just unfortunate that CC throws left-handed.

I'll admit I'm not too optimistic about the team's chances in this game and have already started thinking about getting back on track in Minnesota, but that Wolf/Lester matchup in Boston was a surprise, too. Hopefully more of the same.

3 lefties in the lineup against CC. That doesn't seem to bode well.

This is where the Lucroy/Wolf situation really turns into a problem. CC is extremely tough on lefties, but Wolf can't pitch to Lucroy for whatever reason.

Wouldn't it be funny if Wolf beats NY and Boston, with Gallardo, Greinke, and Marcum a combined 0-4?

I am going to jump in and say the crew wins today. They scratch some runs together, Wolf pitches well against a lineup without Granderson and ARod. Nice of them to sit a couple guys. Just the way baseball works I guess. When you think the team is sunk and struggling, they win a game you don't expect them to. I am sure everyone expected (or hoped) they could get one between Greinke and Marcum. But the bats have been a bit silent as well.

Stupid interleague schedule. It sure would be nice to play the Blue Jays, Orioles, and [one good team]. It would be even better to get two of those series at home. Is it unfair? Yeah. Is it on the Brewers to perform no matter what? Yeah. Am I going to keep complaining about it? Yeah.

This game is on MLB Network with YES coverage. They just showed a short interview with CC about his time in Milwaukee. He loved it here, at one point saying that pitching against us would be just as weird for him as pitching against the Indians and that even though it was only 3 months, he felt like he played here his whole career. Best time of his career by far.

I hope he has some sound advice for Prince. Live within your means, invest well, and 120 million plus being happy is worth a heck of a lot more than 200 million and not being happy.

Boston DFA's Cameron. Pick up Cam? Trade for Hardy? Can we get the band back together? Doug Davis was released as well...we could use a lefty in the pen. We missed out on adding Hall though. This should all be ridiculous, but the gap between our good players and our bench/filler guys is so great that a lot of it actually makes sense.

And Tampa too.

I'm not holding my breath today though. Wolf seems like the kind of pitcher the Yankees will pummel.

Sure hope I'm wrong though.
