2011-06-29 Brewers (Marcum) at Yankees (Burnett) - [Brewers lose, 5-2]

Home run, right? God this park is a joke.
I just saw the replay and was coming to post this. Yeah, let's build a stadium with walls that extend virtually straight across from the corner.

About to lose our 4th series in the last 5.

Tough part of the schedule but the horrible play on the road is really disappointing.

Lack of clutch hitting, bad defense(not tonight) making lots of outs on the bases and poor pitching pretty much says it all.

This Yankee team is 2nd in OBP and 1st in slugging in the junior circuit. If you score 2 runs a game, you don't stand a chance.

Brewers are 4th in slugging and 12 in OBP in the senior circuit for the record...

Brewers are playing in the same park and have every opportunity to hit short HR's too. Problem is that they're offensively inept on the road.
And the Yankees take advantage of their park by having six LH hitters in the lineup. The Brewers have three, and Nyjer Morgan doesn't quite count as a power threat.

It's really tough to watch this team on the road. I can't decide if they're just playing over their heads at home or underachieving away from home. The Boston, Tampa, Minnesota, Yankees, Minnesota stretch looked to be among the toughest of the year alongside the post All-Star break trip, and it's shaping up to be that way. Hopefully the Crew can get a win tomorrow to get to 6-6 with three left.

My head says it would be tough to be disappointed with that numerically speaking, but they just haven't looked good against top competition, despite stealing a game each in the Sox and Rays series.

Let's see stopper Randy Wolf tomorrow.

I was at both of the last two games. Very frustrating to watch. The Brewers outhit the Yankees both games yet come nowhere near winning. I saw lotta brewer fans on Tuesday, but not as many last night.

The first game the Yankees score 12 runs on 10 hits, and the Brewers score 2 runs on 11 hits. Talk about aggravating. I’d been looking forward to that game and seeing Grienke pitch for so long. But before I could even finish eating my hot dog it was pretty much over.

Then, last night it felt like no matter how many hits the Brewers got, the only prayer they had to drive in some runs would be via the long ball, and it wasn’t happening. Yankees turned three double plays in the first 3 or 4 innings, including one on a good catch by Granderson but some very bad base running by Hart.

Yankees really work the pitch count and take their time in the batters box. It is infuriating to watch their routines. But they do lead all of MLB in base on balls so there is something behind their strategy, not just wasting time for no reason. However, would it be ok for the pitcher to just throw his pitch while Nick Swisher spends 45 secods digging his feet into the batters box for no good reason? That’s what I’d do.

I was too far up in the nosebleeds to see anything well, but even before the Russel Martin homerun last night, and when the Brewers had the lead, I thought that Marcum looked pretty bad and was laboring. I was just waiting for something bad to happen. He couldn’t get out of an inning with less than 20 pitches.

One bright spot from Tuesday night was that Mat Gamel looked sharp in each AB; even his outs were on well hit balls, but unfortunately that didn’t hold true last night. I'd go ahead and start him today even against a lefty.

Yankee stadium isn’t that big of a deal in my opinion. It’s funny to me that they spend $1.5 billion on a stadium but a place like PNC Park in Pittsburgh, which cost $250 million for the Pirates to build, provides a much better ballpark experience. Also have to wonder where the Yankees would be if they didn’t have the money to just go out and buy Tiexara, A-Rod, and Sabathia.

It seems ridiculously easy to hit homeruns at Yankee Stadium. Lazy pop flies end up on the warning track in right field. The Brewers need some homeruns today. I will be there again. Please give me something to get excited about Brewers.
