DFA him? Wow, I would think that might be drastic. If you want Green to start over him cool, but then wouldn't you want Casey off the bench at least?
I'm not exactly serious, but I could care less if he ever plays for this team again. Why would you want a snail slow, no defense, no bat right hand hitter on the bench?

 

I would want him on the bench because his history has indicated that he would have more pop than anyone else we would have plus he can play 3rd, 1st, and maybe 2nd in a pinch. I couldn't care less though if Betancourt was DFA'd.

Obviously he's been brutal this year, but if you figure is bat is somewhere between this season and the past two (even if you want to say it's closer to what he's doing now) he'd probably be a better bat than the majority of the bench players in the league.

How are the Brewers outplaying the other team? The other team has more total bases, has made better defensive plays and has the lead. It might feel like the Brewers should be ahead, but I think that sums up the reason the Brewers aren't leading the division by about 5 games right now.

The Brewers inability to get runners in scoring position home is killing them again. Another game where they were outplaying the other team but not getting the hits when they need them, and now they are down in one inning. Sigh.

 

Really frustrating, they have had some bad luck though. That ground rule double is a perfect example.

I'm a huge Casey fan and really believe he'll turn it around, but that at bat with the bases loaded was horrible. Those were pitches he was driving last year. Until he gets it going, he should probably be dropped in the order. I still think he gets it going, but he can do it from the 6/7 hole.

They have had a good amount of runners in scoring position and haven't really capitalized on those situations. The Twins really had two guys on and capitalized on it. This seems like many other games this year.

That's why I don't have a huge problem with Morgan bunting early in games. Might end up as just a sacrifice, but even if the infield is charging in he always has a chance to beat it out.

 

He's too good of a hitter to have him do it EVERY time (which it feels like sometimes)...but it can work out pretty well.

The twins have had runners in scoring position in 4 out of the 7 innings.

I know what you're saying mtrebs. It seemed like, for a brief moment when the team was on its hot streak, that they had turned some sort of corner in terms of "maturing" in the sense that just getting the result was always in focus. It seems like they've regressed from that. There is a sort of cold-blooded, just-getting-it-done vibe to certain teams. The Brewers simply aren't there. Honestly, I don't know that they ever have been in teh past 25 years. That goodness for having CC in 2008.
