2011-06-20 Rays (Niemann) at Brewers (Narveson) - [Brewers lose, 8-4]

You can't go down looking with the tying run on 3rd base and less then 2 outs. You have to protect the plate and put the ball in play.

wow, way to redeem that horrible AB Kotsay
Come on. It wasn't a horrible AB. The pitcher made some really good pitches (even if one did technically miss its spot by a healthy margin). Sometimes when a guy strikes out it's not because he sucked.

No, no. That was not the worst call I ever made. Not by far...

Nyjer really needed to go back to his days as a Regina Pat on that call and start some fisticuffs.

It's hard to draw any accurate conclusions from just the boradcast, but it seems like tonight's crowd is getting out of this game exactly what they've put into it.

The crowd was pretty fired up in the 6th, and it didn't seem to help.

Rock says some really stupid things but I am pulling out one of his right here, "it was to close to take with 2 strikes." At least Kotsay didn't hit into a double play.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I can virtually gurantee that folks would have roasted him just as badly if he swung and missed at that pitch, claiming that he swung at a terrible pitch.

At least Arnett is actually pitching well tonight, so the night hasn't been a total loss, though it is just R+ ball.

True, but when a guy is slugging .293 with a .614 OPS three months into the season, it's because he sucks.

I'm not blaming the crowd. Just saying it's been dead all night, with the exception of the always popular "we got screwed" motivation. BA said as much earlier, about 3 seconds after I was going to post the same thought.

Hard for a crowd to get into a game when the players are not hitting or providing any reason for excitement.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

It was a strike how can it be a terrible pitch?

The guy didn't get the job done and hasn't gotten the job done almost all year.

Good players fail too but they get the benefit of the doubt because they help you win many games throught the year.

Kotsay really has done nothing to justify getting at bats. Unfortunately with braun being sick we have no other options since Gomez can't hit either.

Well, we did get screwed. I think even the fans are tired. It's been a long time since an off day, and the last week has been trying, especially coming after the previous week which was so good.

I don't disagree that he sucks, but it's so frustrating when people pile on Kotsay and Yuni every time they make an out, even if it's not warranted in that particular instance. So give me a break with the "you need to protect the plate" crap because it was a nasty curve that barely caught the corner. That's a tough pitch on which to pull the trigger and it did not look like it was going to be a strike. If it was a straight fastball, sure, then it would have been pretty obvious that it was going to be close.

Give the opposing player some credit sometimes.

I was just about to go do other things then Lucroy goes yard.

Without FoxTrax most here would not have thought it a strike. Many umps wouldn't even have called it a strike given how badly he missed his spot. Kotsay can't win here. Yes, he's not good. But he can't win with lots of posters here.

New Narveson rule: if he gives up a leadoff walk to a subpar hitter after the 5th inning, take him out immediately.

New lineup rule: Betancourt never again bats higher than 8th unless Wil Nieves rejoins the team.
