Would it kill RR to give Wilson a start every once in a while? His only two right handed bats off the bench, Gomez and Wilson, haven't gotten a start in an eternity. He starts Kotsay because he supposedly needs some AB's to stay comfortable at the plate; why doesn't this apply to Gomez and Wilson to? Gomez I understand not starting against anyone but a lefty; but Wilson should be getting periodic starts.

Gomez is going to get thrown to the wolves against Lester on Saturday while having about 5 AB's in the last 2 weeks and RR will probably start Wilson against Wakefield on Sunday for the simple fact that it seems Yuni against Wakefield would be hilariously awful.

Interesting that Kottaras is playing today. It's pretty clear that they are already comfortable with him playing more than just catching Wolf. Why? Because of his bat. What a surprise that is.

I'm guessing day game after a late night game.

Same could be said about Counsell. Other than those 2 consecutive starts he got recently, he hardly starts any games. It especially makes no sense because Betancourt and McGehee have been so bad. I don't see how it would hurt to get Counsell and Wilson in there periodically. Gomez I could care less about, but those other 2 should start more games.

This is going to be another tough game. As bad as the Cubs are, if their starting rotation had somewhat panned out they could've been a .500 ballclub. Garza is only a tier below Marcum

Yeah, I don't get why Betancourt continues to get start after start when he's clearly not improving at the plate. His approach flat out sucks, and he contributes basically nothing. Yet Wilson and Counsell just sit on the bench and get a start every week or two. Makes no sense.

Dilliard was killing it on the pregame.

I didn't find it that funny. It was basically an impression of Will Ferrell doing an impression of Harry Caray. And it was a pretty bad impression. He had the face but the voice wasn't very good. I guess it was decent for a guy who isn't a comedian but I didn't really laugh.

This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

Yuni has a 3 game hit streak. Clearly he's responded well to the threat of a platoon.
Yuni's the type of guy I can see either (1) hitting for the cycle or (2) having a 25 game hitting streak where he goes 1/5 with a single in each game. This must be due to my fear of having to hear about the last Brewers' cycle, by Yuniesky Betancourt. That would be worse than hearing of Chad Moeller. I can also see him going a long time without making an error. All of these could be justifications for keeping him in the lineup. I think I've developed Yubetaphobia.

Very nice rendition of the National Anthem. That will probably be the highlight of the broadcast for me, since I'm stuck with WGN. Better than an illegal internet stream, I guess.

Funny, as soon as the last pitch to Weeks left Garza's hand, I knew what was about to happen. Disappointing, but it was a very nice pitch. Best Weeks could hope for was to foul it off.

For those not cursed with WGN, they talked a little about the Plush alter-ego. Didn't get into it too much, but they were laughing about it. Not like the Cards announcers would laugh about, which would be with scorn in their voices, but in a way to indicate they thought it was entertaining.

Is the wind blowing out today? I would love to see Greinke go deep into this game so we dont have to see much of the bullpen
Cubs announcers said it was blowing towards right, a little bit out. They didn't seem to indicate that it was a huge factor or anything.
