Scott Kazmir - likely to be released by the Angels

Roenicke doesn't need a lefty specialist. He doesn't use the lefty we have now.

Kazmir was good in 2008, bad in 2009, and downright awful last year.

I'm not sure a reclamation project is where this team is at right now, as far as adding arms.

If he wanted to go down to Nashville and try to turn it around? Sure.

I'm sure he'll have several teams willing to give him a shot in the minors so he'll have his choice of teams. Fangraphs shows that in his one appearance for the Angels this year, his fastball topped out at 86. If he can get back to near his old velocity, he'd be a solid bullpen option. Without that, he's Brian Shouse at best.

I could see a bottom dweller offering him a MLB spot based on his potential, but if he wants to work things out in the minors, the Brewers might be an option for him. We have a playoff caliber team with little starting pitching depth. If he were to go to the minors and put things together, he would have a good shot at seeing the rotation. Now, if he does indeed have injury issues, then we'd better be awfully sure what we'd be getting into before thinking baout bringing him on board. If there were known injuries, wouldn't the Angels have to DL him so that he continued to accrue MLB time?

You mean that lefty specialist that pitched well for us for a few years and gained us a supplemental pick when he left?

Or did you mean Brian Shouse, 2011 version? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
