Yovani Gallardo

8-3 | 3.96

Gallardo's six-start winning streak ended with a thud Thursday, when Gallardo allowed 10 hits and threw 96 pitches in four-plus innings of a loss to the Mets. He's 3-1 with a 3.61 ERA in eight starts against the Cubs.

Randy Wells

1-1 | 6.50

Wells' last start was cut short after 2 1/3 innings because of rain. Another problem was pitch count: He threw 53 in the abbreviated outing. This will be his first game against the Brewers since Cactus League play on Feb. 28.

Lol, I love the early digs. Good stuff. Sadly, we may all be right and Roenicke will find a way to piss us off again. The only way I won't criticize him is if Morgan is playing, McGehee is either not playing or out of the 5 hole, Hart is hitting 5th, and Betancourt is on the bench or hitting 8th at least.

I have analyzed RRR's lineups for nearly two minutes and I have come up with this gritty line-up prediction:

2B: Weeks

RF: Morgan

LF: Braun

1B: Fielder

3B: McGehee

C: Lucroy

SS: Wilson

CF:Gomez

P: Gallardo

why would he play Morgan in right when he could play Kotsay there? Oh wait, that logic applies to every position.

2B Kotsay
CF Kotsay
LF Kotsay
1B Kotsay
3B Kotsay
RF Kotsay
SS Kotsay
C Nieves
P Gallardo

Why even do this? It's so unrealistic....

...everyone knows Kotsay can't play SS.

McGehee is 3 for 6 in his career against Wells with a HR. Hart is 4 for 15. That's why McGehee is still batting 5th. And no, that's not in blue because I firmly believe this is Roenicke's thinking. It might be nitpicking but McGehee should not be behind Prince now because teams will just walk him.

What exactly would it take for Casey to NOT be hitting fifth, behind our two best hitters?

He hasn't had an extra base hit in roughly 70 at bats, and only 3 in his last 100 or so. The hits he has gotten lately are broken bat singles or grounders that find #%#*$@. It's to the point when he's hitting that I'm stunned if he doesn't strike out or hit a weak grounder to the left side of the infield.

Meanwhile, Corey Hart, who has been htiting the ball well, continues to bat sixth. Maybe teams won't pitch around Prince, oh wait, the Cubs did it twice last night and Casey (again) failed in that spot. During this horrible stretch, Casey hasn't played in exactly ONE game. Whats the point of having Wilson/Counsell on the bench if they can't fill in for a slumping player?

Yep, totally agree. That is Roenicke's thinking too, which is sad. Having McGehee behind Prince is just taking the bat out of his hands right now. There's no reason that McGehee should be hitting in front of Hart right now. Roenicke says he still wants McGehee protected, but I'd just put Lucroy behind him then if it's such a big deal. Just go Hart McGehee Lucroy Betancourt.

Can't complain too much about the lineup here. I know you shouldn't adjust your lineup based on the hot or cold hand, but honestly, Casey's been going through a long enough cold stretch that he should be moved out of the 5 spot until he turns it back around a bit.

COOOOP, shh. Don't give the Cubs a competitive advantage. We both know that's the Thursday day after a night game lineup. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Hopefully we can get off the deck today and get a win. I really hope Casey can turn it around soon. Teams are finally figuring out not to pitch to Prince.

Not teams, one team. The Cubs are the first team to noticeably pitch around Fielder. Why the Cardinals didn't is beyond me. Sure they walked him a few times, but there wasn't anything to the extent of the Cubs last night. But more teams will do it now that they see it works. I'm surprised this didn't start happening sooner, but it's going to continue if McGehee stays cold and in the 5 spot.
