2011-06-13 Brewers (Wolf) at Cubs (Dempster) - [Brewers lose, 1-0]

He's struggling to throw strikes. It's a 3-1 count to your pitcher and you call a squeeze play.

You have to be smarter than that. Even if he K's, you still have Weeks with a man on third. AWFUL. Infield was in too, just let him swing. The 3-1 pitch was way outside too, though Wolf has to make a better effort than that to get the ball. Throw the bat if you have to. Still a terrible, terrible decision.

Can the Roenicke apologists explain that squeeze to me? The guy is a complete moron. And yes, I would say that if it worked too.
But Yuniesky Betancourt and Randy Wolf really enjoyed the that debacle. That's what matters.

Almost game time boys. Wife been in labor since about 10AM. Thought the baby was going to come this weekend, but it didn't want to leave the womb until the Cubs series started. No need for congrats posts, I used all those up on Sat. when I thought for sure it was going to happen.
I think we still have $30 towards your child being named Yuniesky chickinbrickin.

It's a Boy! The wife backed out on Yuniesky last moment so we went with Noah James, and little Noah just heard his first F-Bomb after that squeeze attempt. Have to love hitting 2 doubles in an inning and getting no runs. *Shaking My Head*

Maybe if Nieves was up there I'd call the squeeze, but Wolf is semi-competent. Especially with the 3-1 count. But in reality Randy shouldn't have had much problem just getting a piece of that ball

For the love of God, RR.

Everything I wanted to say has pretty much been repeated. I don't think I'd ever attempt a squeeze with a pitcher, especially. It seems like the squeeze worked magically one time, so RR has been using it ad nauseum lately.

The only thing that makes that possibly a good idea is the fact that NOBODY with any baseball sense could foresee that play being called. But there is a reason that nobody could predict that play....because it's not a good play.

I wouldn't mind the squeeze if this was like Marcum against Halladay. However, 1 run in the 4th inning is very unlikely to be the winning play in this one. It was dumb. We will get to Dempster.

It's just a terrible, terrible call. We struggle to score on Dempster, especially with this lineup, and we just go and hand away a run.

It should be Brewers -1, Cubs 0 right now.

THis will be yet another case of the Brewers winning a game, despite a stupid managerial move. Squeeze plays aren't something you do all the time, if they were that successful, teams would run them all the time. It worked the first time, and we've done it three times since then. Give it up already, especially in a situation like that.

About the only good thing at this point is that Dempster is at 86 pitches, heart of the lineup due up here. If we can get into their bullpen, it would be a very good thing. I'm not going to hold my breath though.
