2011-06-13 Brewers (Wolf) at Cubs (Dempster) - [Brewers lose, 1-0]

Considering the wind is blowing in tonight, I'd slightly be tempted to pinch hit for McGehee with Plush. In any case, go Casey!

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;

The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,

And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;

But there is no joy in Mudville - mighty Casey has...

Dang.

WE have the infield in, get a ground ball and we STILL DON'T get any out.

Didn't block the plate at all and Weeks makes a terrible throw. And that's how we lose the game.

This has to be the most frustrating game of the season for me. Blow our one chance to score on bad managing/stupid squeeze play, then they score a run in that fashion. Terrible call on strike three, terrible defense on Braun and terrible execution on the play at the plate on both ends.

Chalk this loss up to our boneheaded manager, again. More headscratching decisions. Terrible lineup and bad pitching moves yet again. This is at least the third or fourth game that I'm putting squarely on his head. So much for being alone in first place. In a race that sure appears will come down to the end, we can't afford to be having our manager losing games for us.

And so glad Casey is behind Prince still so teams can continue to walk him all the time.

Kotsay starting - 0 for 4, 3 K's.

Nieves still on the team - 0 for 2, GIDP, the usual.

Squeeze with the pitcher on a 3-1 count - Fail

Overworked Loe again in the 8th - Fail

There was no reason for us to lose this game. It took a valiant effort including a horrid lineup, mismanaging and overthinking to get it done. I am so sick of Roenicke.

Its not his fault Nieves is on the roster.

Loe pitched well, not his fault Braun cant catch a fly ball.

All I can say is that if Ned Yost made these same decisions, everybody would be calling for him to be fired. As far as I'm concerned, Roenicke is lucky to have such a talented team, if this guy had been put in charge of the Pirates he'd last less than a year.

Would you say this is the worst lost of the year?
Opening day was worse. This was just typical of the way we've played on the road this year.

This loss gets chalked up to Doug Melvin, as much as Ron Roenicke. Don't care what the manager says; personnel moves have to be in the front office, not the dugout. Nieves, Betancourt, and McGehee simply aren't getting the job done, and roster spots have to be on the line once the calendar reaches mid-June. To trot out that lineup and lose 1-0 shouldn't be surprising.

Yes it is his fault. He wants a "defense first catcher"

The ball was crushed. Only the wind blowing in kept that in the park. He should not face left handers

ugh...

- So our starting catcher can't get a full day off, because the backup catcher is the worst hitter on the team - worse than any pitchers who get AB's

- the one legitimate scoring chance the Brewers had all night was squandered by overmanaging

- the only run of the game was scored after a missed strike 3 call and a couple of plays that good defensive players often make

- the best player on the Brewers' bench tonight didn't get an AB, even though there were two pinch hitters used in the game

- a righty specialist that somehow became the 8th inning guy is getting abused

such a frustrating loss, but it is only one game - I'd love to know whether the Crew traveled to Chicago yesterday after the game...their performance tonight has me thinking a short travel trip like that gave them plenty of time to make plans to celebrate a weekend sweep of the Cardinals at some of the Windy City's watering holes into the wee hours.

Ya to say this is the worst managed game is comical. We did not score a run. I think it is pretty tough to win with a zero in the run column. And the squeeze play was setup at the perfect time. 3-1 count and the pitcher up. Wolf just couldn't get it down. This is now where I leave the IGT for people to come up with reasons why we lost a game and blame someone. I guess we were supposed to win everygame from here on out or RRR should be fired. I thought it was a well played game and the bats were simply silent. I can't imagine what is going to happen here when we go thru another losing streak. Yikes, this was just one game.
