Anyone interested about Jungmann...I'm asumming he's pitching Game 1 vs ASU on Friday Night at 6pm. I'm pretty sure it's on ESPN according to my channel guiyde on Direct TV.

Thanks a ton, I'll set the DVR.

If not Friday, then most certainly Saturday, which would be either the elimination game or clincher. Saturday's game is also on ESPN at 6:00 CT.

20th round RHP Brandon Williamson will probably start on Friday or Saturday for Dallas Baptist v California. Game times are 7pm and 9pm CDT, respectively. You can watch on ESPNU.

Our three picks from Connecticut play v favored South Carolina this weekend. Games times 5pm CDT Friday on ESPN2, 6pm CDT Saturday on ESPNU. Elliot Glynn is a starting pitcher for UConn, but not sure if he'll get the call this weekend. 1B Mike Nemeth (21st round) and C Douglas Elliot (35th round) are regular starters.

Florida and RHP Tommy Toledo & C Ben McMahan, neither starters, take on Mississippi St. this weekend. 11am CDT both Friday and Saturday. Friday on ESPN2, Saturday on ESPN.

25th round pick Parker Berberet and his Oregon State team play Vanderbilt. Friday 7pm CDT on ESPNU, Saturday 8pm on ESPN2. If Berberet starts, it will be at first base. He was drafted as a catcher.

I posted in the other thread. I thought the curve was loopy in the first, he hasn't thrown his 2 seam at all yet.

Wow that many violations for the ASU baseball program? Who knew that college baseball was corrupt as football and basketball?

Hey can someone help me out here. I'm sure this has been talked about somewhere but I don't want to dig through all the threads to try to find it. Taylor Jungmann has got one of the funkiest releases I've ever seen. Is there any concern about injury here? Is he going to have to adjust his mechanic? That release just looks like it hurts.

Other than that though, he is looking really impressive through two innings. Nice to see 93-95 on the gun. Hopefully that can last deep into the game.

Yes there was talk of his short stride and adjusting his mechanics some, X thought he could pickup more velocity with a more conventional lower half.

He's not inducing many swings and misses with that curve, but he locates it well. Just threw his first 2 seam, 89 MPH.

Here you go, TheCrew07:
Taylor Jungmann, RHP, Brewers:[/b] The Brewers are no doubt hoping their top pick, taken No. 12 overall, can get to Milwaukee quickly. Jungmann will be coming off a stellar career at the University of Texas, during which he played at a high level, faced top competition and had no problem with the spotlight. He's got three plus pitches and maintains his stuff through a game. As his command improves, he'll shoot through the Brewers' system.
Dunno if that's quite true, but there you go, it is written.

Yea that's pretty much exactly what his MLB.com scouting report said, I'm guessing Mayo wrote that a well. I'm not seeing a plus secondary pitch early. He's thrown one change, a couple of 2 seam FB, a ton of 4 seam fastballs, and a bunch of curves, and as I mentioned the ASU hitters are making consistent contact with the curve.

* nice, easy delivery....and he uses his height & high release point to get good downward movement on his pitches.....like it!

* that has to be a fast-gun....no way he's throwing 95 (and as someone said above he's not missing many bats), but I'd guess it's "easy" 91-93 & that's good enough given the downward bite in his fastball

* that curveball needs a lot of work as someone mentioned above.... not much late bite ....but there's potential to make it a plus-pitch

* location is good (generally hits the catchers target)

I hate to jinx things, but his delivery reminds me of a loopy version of Jeff D'Amico. When I say loopy, I mean like how Axford has totally unnecessary arm floppiness before delivering the ball.

Besides that, lots of big leaguers have similar mechanics. I like that the ball gets low in his take away, as that's always common with sinker-ballers that want to get on top of the ball.

It's a pretty effortless 94 in this game.

My take on Jungmann...

Well I've now seen him pitch twice. The first time my brother just had the game on in the background at his bar and I was hardly paying attention to game except when Jungmann pitched because I recognized the name from this forum (he's much more of a college baseball fan than I am). The second of course was yesterday where I was just sitting here on the couch taking notes.

He doesn't have a plus secondary pitch and struggles with his control in spurts. I actually liked the change he threw to strike out a batter in the 3rd much better than his curve. At minimum he has to tighten up that curve and locate his 2 seamer better. I don't think there's any way he's in Milwaukee this season or likely next season. Right now all he's got is a 4 seam FB and curve that's more of a hanger at the next level, and I thought he pitched to a pretty generous strike zone last night.

The curve is nothing like Scarpetta flashed in WI or Sheets used to rock, the best way to describe it is the pitch would be considered a "hanger" in MLB. As I said, the ASU batters made consistent contact with it and hit a couple of them pretty hard. He seems to be a decent athlete, so I hope both he and Bradley sign early and get to work. The arm is definitely there, he must have been throwing his 2 seamer more in the regional game which is why the velocity appeared to be down. In hind sight I wish I would have been paying closer attention to that game and less attention to the conversation and drinking.

It will be interesting to see where he starts and how much success he has, last night he was definitely catching people guessing to get strike outs more than he was getting batters to swing through pitches.

Does anyone know where to find video of Taylor's start today? I'd really like to see what kind of stuff he's got, seems his curveball is pretty below average from your reports. But I can't seem to find any links from google to his start.
