to me the high/low floor/ceiling stuff is junk. My question is can the guy play baseball? It is as simple is that.
The floor/ceiling stuff is a descriptor of how well he can/will be able to play baseball. Not sure why it's junk?

I can play baseball. My floor is very low, as is my ceiling. They are arguably the same height.

Already said pitching draft picks are total crapshoots so it's no use getting upset or excited about them. Just wait to see how it plays out and hope your guys beat the odds. For the record, I like the two guys drafted based on what all the "experts" around the league are saying.

And as for the rest of the day, it really doesn't matter who I like or not. I haven't seen these guys anywhere near enough to get upset if "my guy" isn't drafted by the Brewers. I figure the scouting department knows more than I do so once they get drafted I start to follow them and root for their success.

That's pretty much my thoughts too in a nutshell, although I will admit I was peeved that the Cubs of all teams took Baez yesterday. As if we all needed another reason to hate them, lol.

Not to diss anyone here or in the other blogospheres, but most of the folks who sounded upset with the Brewers picks were the bloggers and fans, while most of draft experts and scouts think it's solid. Maybe not great, but certainly not bad. My only hope now is that one or both of these guys pan out, and that we take advantage of this deep draft throughout the rest of the rounds, could be some star power coming from an unexpected spot.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Melvin apparently mentioned to Olney that Jungmann could possibly help the team this year. That's at least a clear sign that he won't be babied along in the minors.

I don't think too many people were upset. I'd call my reaction "underwhelmed" if anything. I even sort of like Bradley. I'll certainly give both of them a chance.

If Jungmann can develop a solid change-up, he could be a very, very good.

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus feeling, though some others on different sites and blogs sounded a little more distraught, which sort of confused me.

Lots of mixed reports on Bradley, but I think both should be given a chance. Jungmann has grown on me the more I read about him, seems like there is still potential there as you noted. Bradley's second pitch is reall his changeup, right? Not his slider as some have noted?

BA's 39th overall prospect here's the scouting report on Jorge Lopez:

Lopez is the best prospect in Puerto Rico and could be the island's highest-drafted pitcher ever. (The current record-holder is Luis Atilano, 35th overall in 2003.) A volleyball player and track participant in the past, Lopez is a fine athlete who has plenty of projection remaining in his 6-foot-4, 180-pound frame. He's lanky, long and loose, with a fastball that sits 89-91 mph and touches 93 regularly. Lopez also stands out for having one of the best breaking balls scouts can recall for a Puerto Rican pitcher. He has flashed an above-average curve, which doesn't have true 12-to-6 rotation but isn't far off. At times it's short and tight, and he has a feel for it that belies his age and inexperience. Lopez's athletic ability has scouts optimistic about his ability to pick up larger improvements such as a changeup as well as nuances like fielding his position. He'll have to get stronger to make good on the projections scouts have for him.
