Chris Narveson

2-4 | 4.68

Narveson's last two starts have been stinkers: 7 1/3 innings, 13 hits, 11 earned runs and one frustrated left-hander. "We just have to stay away from that one big inning that he seems to have," manager Ron Roenicke said.

Anibal Sanchez

5-1 | 2.57

After shutting out the Giants on May 26, Sanchez picked up right where he left off, dominating the D-backs in a 5-2 victory. The right-hander pitched eight innings, striking out eight and walking one. He allowed two runs on six hits.

Good lord, is ESPN awful......

2 excerpts from the same article here......

Sanchez (5-1, 2.57 ERA) is likely to offer the Brewers a stiff

test.The right-hander is 4-0 with a 1.15 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings over five starts.

So........he's averaging over 11 inning pitched per start, eh?

The Brewers look for their longest road winning streak of the season when they attempt to sweep a road series from the Florida Marlins for the first time in 12 years Sunday.

So......if the Brewers win today, are they automatically forfeiting tomorrow's game to the Brewers?

Good grief ESPN, proofreading is your friend.

To be fair, it looks like ESPN gets their previews from STATS LLC. But yeah, some proofreading would be nice.

Goodness gracious is that lineup ugly, but at least the top 6 should hit, right?

Lineup = UGHHHH!!!

Which means of course they will score 8 runs.

What's wrong with this lineup? McGehee and Betancourt both suck right now. Counsell and Wilson starting may be an improvement at this point. Plus, our 6 best hitters are batting 1-6 in the order. I don't see anything wrong with it.

They're absolutely fine 1-6. This is way better than some of the "Sunday Day Game" lineups we've seen. I find it difficult to believe Counsell and Wilson could underperform what YuniB and Casey are doing right now.

I don't think the lineup is that bad. I would prefer McGehee over Wilson(not at SS obviously) but other than that Counsell instead of McGehee or Betancourt against a RHP isn't a bad idea.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

My initial reaction to the lineup was that it was just awful but then I realized that they are just replacing Casey and Yuni who haven't performed well at all lately. 1-6 looks good as always. It'll be a tough game with Sanchez pitching but hopefully we can pull out the victory and secure a series win.

I guess my point being that your best back ups are Counsell and Wilson.
Aside from Dom Brown, the Phillies have 4 guys on their bench with OPS below .700

The Marlins have 3 guys on their bench with OPS below .600.

In fact, all around the league, everyone has a bench full of guys that shouldn't be starting. That's why they're bench players.

I'm finding teams that if you cumulatively add up their bench numbers, I'll bet they don't OPS .600.

The Braves with Hinske and Ross are the one team I can find with a nice bench.

Point being, you're not going to find too many starting caliber guys riding the pine around the league.

Yuni B might have had his best stretch as a Brewer in the last 3 days; not that that is saying much though. He has 5 hits in his last 12 AB's. I know extremely small sample size. 8 walks the entire year though; that is just painfully horrendous. Counsell has 10 walks in 1/4th the plate appearances.

Wilson can't possibly be any worse than Casey right now so I think the lineup out there is actually pretty darn solid.

I fully expect to lose today though; just not a good pitching match up at all.

Agree with you Prince.. Casey is rotten right now and Yuni is Yuni. At thevery least we have sold gloves on the left side of the infield today.
