This exchange between Uke and Corey about staying at his post is one of the best I have heard in a while.

Sometimes not being able to watch the games is a great thing.

Anyone else listening?

Yep. Ueck had to distinguish b/w the line drive into the box and the easy popup. Also Corey called himself this journalist and Uecker got him to say he's a play by play guy, not a journalist. Funny stuff.

Also nice about Ueck presenting the first Johnny Carson scholie at Nebraska.

My favorite part was when he was talking about Kent getting hit with the foul ball and said..

Ueck: "Who hit that ball Kent?"
*you hear mumbling in the background*
Ueck: "Tony Phillips?"
*you hear a mumbled acknowledgement*
Ueck: "Tony Phillips never did like you, Kent..."

Was at the game and I do have to say it seemed like there were fewer people there then normal. I think coming off the holiday weekend and the team being on a big skid might have had something to do with it. It was super hot out too, but I guess that is normal for down here. I'd say this is a big baseball town, I wouldn't look too much in to last nights game. Was at a weekday afternoon game a few weeks ago vs the Pirates and it was packed.

Great Def by YB last night. He looked really good! Part of it had to do with the shifts, which some people hate (but that only comes up when they don't work). Well the shifts seemed to work well last night.

This was a big win. Now if we can get todays game that will be huge for the team's confidence. Beating the Reds on the road is a double win.

Rluz i'm not getting into another circular debate about luck with you. Either you've seen the pitch location or you haven't... if you haven't then don't tell me a 52% LOB isn't sustainable... no kidding. He's not been unlucky, he just hasn't pitched well going back to last year.
You suggested that a pitcher's BABIP even's out over the course of a year. Plenty of sample size for the skill to shine over the noise. That is just 100% incorrect. Again, you can use highschool math to estimate the MINIMUM statistical noise associated with a certain sample size.

Perhaps you get involved in so many circular arguments here because you don't even attempt to investigate the counter arguments.

How do you guys feel about using more pitchers than necessary so you can get position players into the game or pinch hitting opportunities.

In other words, is it a better idea to let Estrada pitch the 6-9 innings if he's doing ok so you don't have to utilize extra bullpen arms. Or is it more important to get your bench pinch hitting opportunities and an inning or two in the field?

For last night's game I thought it was a good use of the bench/bullpen. It all depends on if the bullpen needs rest or work, who the upcoming batters are, when the next off day is and who the Brewers have scheduled to pitch coming up. With Marcum going today and then an off day, it's really not necessary to try and save the bullpen, they should be plenty rested.
