It's really satisfying to score a run after a leadoff double despite having nobody get on-base the rest of the inning. The opposite is just so demoralizing. That is how teams out-perform their pythagorean W-L record. Now whether or not it's just lucky when that happens or if it's a trait that a team can cultivate is the stuff that keeps message boards alive.

Greinke has been a complete bust.

His results have been a complete bust. All his peripheral stats (even this year) point to him being an excellent pitcher. 3 run homers instead of solo shots and 4 hits in a row instead of scattering them over 4 innings, etc. I think his luck will even out and he'll be a stud.

Morse is now 10-20 with 5 HR in his career at Miller Park. That inning just got ugly real fast. Went single, double, HR in about 5 pitches.

Just seems strange with Greinke. He is dominating for 3 innings, then just explodes for a big inning. I don't get it. I almost think he's throwing too many strikes, that they know they'll get something to hit because he wants to get ahead in the count. It also doesn't help that it seems that every time he misses a spot, it's out over the plate and the hitters haven't seemed to miss one of those against him all season long.

I really hope you're right, but this has been his 5th start....all of which have had the same thing happen. Either 3 run shots or 5 hits in an inning or something. That sure seems like a huge amount of bad luck for one guy.

Only 20 pitches that inning and 61 overall through 4 for Zack. Would hope that he'd be able to go at least 6 still. Keep it at 3 runs and let our offense pick up the W today.

It is just crazy that Grienke has been giving up this many runs when you consider the incredible strikeout rate he has right now. It sure seems that when he has been making mistakes he almost always pays for them. He seems to lose focus for an inning here and there and gets lit up

I do think he is throwing too many strikes, at least the second time through the order. I like challenging guys right out of the gate, because a lot of teams/players haven't seen Greinke and want to take some pitches in order to get their timing down and feel comfortable with his delivery, etc. The second and third time through the order I think he should mix it up a bit. Of course, even better still would be to mix things up from start to start and not have a consistent scouting report.

It's hard to understand. He's getting a ton of strike outs, yet he just seems to run into an inning when he misses with a pitch or two and next thing you know, it's 3-5 runs on the board.

Nice inning by the offense there. I guess I can't expect much else with Kotsay and Counsell both due up.

Morse just needs to go away.
As Dr. Nick Riviera might say, "I'm so sick of that guy!" At least we should be done with him after today...unless he's traded to a team the Brewers play later this season.
