Ian Stewart

I'd love to get Stewart.....In the off-season. How can you possibly add a guy hitting less than .150 to a roster that it's in a penant race? How could you justify giving that guy ABs? Now, in a new season when his head has cleared and has worked with a new hitting coach, yes, I'd love to steal him from the Rockies and push McGehee for the starting job,

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

Craig Counsell and his .147 avg say hi. Granted he wasn't added to the roster but he definitely should not continue to be on it.

This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

Rockies asking for Blake DeWitt from the Cubs for Ian Stewart. If true, I can't really see the Cubs turning that down. I'd still like to take a chance on Stewart. Do they have a blocked SS prospect we could work into a deal at all?

How are his Numbers away from Coors?
Well, throwing out 2011 because he was just truly awful every time he stepped to the plate...

2010: Home OPS of .757, Road OPS of .802

2009: Home OPS of .824, Road OPS of .748

With McGehee, Green and possibly Hairston in the mix at 3B, I admit that taking a chance on Stewart is probably not a priority for DM right now.

actually, i could see adding Stewart if the cost isn't too high. I could see doug going into camp saying McGehee, Stewart, Green and Gamel will battle it out for playing time. it would be a cheap alternative (with a reasonably decent upside) than signing a bigger free agent.

I just don't what it would take to get stewart. If it's blake dewitt, we're not talking anything great.

Stewart reminds me of Green. We already have Green.

Stewart has had some modicum of success in 3/4 years in MLB. Taylor has 37 MLB PAs. They play 3B and are left handed which makes them a little redundant, but they aren't that similar otherwise. I've always liked Stewart, but given our in-house options at 3B, I doubt we'll take a shot at a reclamation project unless he's non-tendered and given a minor league contract.

I like this buy-low move by the Cubs. He has very legit power & swings from the left side... 'nuff said, for me

EDIT: Whoops, I didn't follow the link first. Interesting trade, Colvin & Stewart as decent buy-low swaps. Wouldn't have hurt Renck to do a spell-check google search on LeMahieu.
