Cedeno has 7 of his 32 career home runs vs the Crew. He's always so annoying. Not that I promote violence, nor would I have enjoyed a suspension of Rickie, but Rickie would have demolished him.

I hope RRR leaves Estrada in to see if he can save our pen a bit. Maybe we can stretch the lead a bit and cruise.

Why is the game starting at 3PM tomorrow? what a stupid time at least it is sto tomorrow.
Fox has exclusive prime time rights at 6 PM, so almost every game is playing early tomorrow. So Fox moving their Saturday baseball to night games this year messes things up a bit.

Why is it a stupid time? I love Saturday day games and I wish we had more. Too bad the weather will be crappy.

I"ll agree with not swinging at bad pitches but like Ender and his peeve with people worrying about K's, I don't put a lot of stock in the taking first pitch strikes just to take a pitch and fall behind 0-1.
I don't think anybody would advocate taking a good pitch just to take a pitch. If you get a good pitch you think you can hit, swing.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

When does almost every pitcher give up the majority of his hits? When he is behind in the count. A hitter will rarely be ahead in any count when 90% of the time you are down 0-1. Swing at the 1st pitch if it is meat. Yuni almost decides before he gets in the batters box if he is going to swing or not.

saturday night games are more fun.

Why do you say that? I actually think day games are more fun. I like tailgating around noon and having the game end before it gets dark out.

Does Estrada become the new setup man? I'd use a combo of Estrada, Hawkins, and Loe in the 7th and 8th. Don't set guys in stone for when they come in, that way we can keep guys fresh.

Not sure what the original post was about, but I can honestly say Coco Crisp has the best haircut in baseball right now.

Kudos to RR for sticking with Estrada. I was not expecting him to do that...thought he would've brought in Hawkins for the 8th, but Estrada was rolling. Always good to save Hawkins for another day when you can.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I do disagree with the complaints that tend to pop up whenever a guy makes a first pitch out. Even when Braun makes a first pitch out, someone complains about not taking pitches. A guy like Betancourt hits .300 if he swings at the first pitch, which is better than his other situational hitting so when he swings at pitch one he is more successful than trying to work the count.

According to Yahoo, the benches clearing was Weeks' fault:

MILWAUKEE (AP)—The benches briefly cleared in the third inning of Friday night’s game between Milwaukee and Pittsburgh after Rickie Weeks was tagged hard by Pirates shortstop Ronny Cedeno. Weeks was caught in a run down and as he slowed down, Cedeno tagged him and appeared to inadvertently push him away with his left arm.

Weeks didn’t appreciate the force used and replays showed Weeks asking Cedeno, “What did you say?” before being restrained by third base umpire Brian O’Nora and second base umpire Chris Conroy.

Both benches and bullpens emptied, but Weeks was pulled away from the situation quickly and returned to the dugout. Cedeno didn’t move toward the rest of the Brewers and no one was ejected.

I would imagine part of swinging at the first pitch has to do with the pitchers tendencies. I agree that Hardy is a good example of someone who just took too many first pitch strikes and some guys just swing way too much at it but if your scouting report says he likes to throw first pitch strikes you should be going up looking to swing a lot of the time.

Didn't Gamel have a big mop of hair under his helmet for awhile? I seem to remember thinking of South Park a few times last year-- like if he took his helmet off his hair would explode out.
