2011-05-11 Padres (Stauffer) at Brewers (Wolf) - [Brewers lose, 13-6]

my first time seeing mlb.tv, so i love that Ueck is doing the audio. don't love that i miss the top of the 1st and come back to see that. the Padres aren't good enough to be scoring three runs in an entire game.

Here's what Roenicke said last night.

"You know something? We're going to run ourselves out of some innings," he said. "But I want our guys being aggressive. Not that way. We're going run ourselves out of some innings. But in the long run, the long year that we have, I think we'll score more runs because of it."

It's just depressing watching him manage and listening to him.

I don't understand how in the long run giving up outs will help us score more runs. I'm not a statistician, but I'm going to guess that his theory is flawed.

I've always wondered how some of the more informed fans (like those who post here) would do managing a team. Sometimes it seems like it wouldn't be that hard to replicate (or even improve upon) what some managers do. I'm starting to think Roenicke may be one of those managers. Anyone know what Billy Heywood is up to?
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

Kotsay's OPS now below .600.

But he's a veteran so stats don't matter. He's been around the game and knows the ins and outs.

I am not so sure about the ins but he sure knows the outs.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Being aggressive is one thing, but being ignorant is another. It's great to be aggressive in the right situations with the right player against the right fielders. To just say your going to be aggressive and run yourself into outs without taking anything into consideration is dumb and shows a lack of preparation IMO. I don't have an issue if it's Gomez, Hart, maybe Weeks or Braun trying to stretch that, but McGhee?? C'mon now! The last time I checked Ludwick has a pretty fair arm as well. There, my first jab at RRR. I feel slightly better now.

It's a tough decision to pull the plug on a starter early, but when the roster currently has 18 or so pitchers on it with several who can play the mop-up role, why will RR wait to make a change until the game's completely out of reach? This lineup isn't going to make George Webb fear cheap burgers.
