I'm sad that I'm getting the Padres' broadcast. Dick Enberg is so bad. While Gomez' triple was in progress, he first said it was a homer, then said it was a ground rule double, then called Gomez "Weeks."

Why??? The dude has just thrown how many balls in a row and you swing 3-0?

it was a pretty good pitch to hit...he just missed it. He's one of the best hitters in the league, I don't have a problem with him swinging there.

The pitch was on the outside corner. Thats not a pitch to swing at on 3-0. I have no problem swining, as long as its in a spot to drive. That was a good pitchers pitch.

I'll disagree with it being a good pitch to hit. Not to mention you're going to get the same pitch 3-1 as 3-0

I think it was 2-1...the pitch on the Braun SB was a strike wasn't it?

Nope. it was 3-0.

And Gomez speed paid off that inning.

Well it should have been a strike. Still not really a big deal

If he was pitching well. It was a pitch that he was lucky to get even near the plate. Latos is lost right now. Prince made up his mind he was swinging before the pitch was thrown.

i didn't think it was outside at all (neither did pitch fx)...it was a pitch i've seen prince drive plenty of times.

agree to disagree, lets get some runs.

Gomez seems to have problems sliding... though the hustle was awesome as no one was helping Ludwick find the ball, the slide into 3rd wasn't a thing a beauty. I've noticed he always slides all the way over 2B on his steals as well.

Lets go Prince.

He seems to dive at the base and then slide over it. While it's certainly not textbook, and it is dangerous if he slides all the way over, it is actually the fastest way to get to the base. More conventional slides are a split second slower since the runner decelerates the last 5 feet or so before making contact with the base. Carlos dives at the base and decelerates after touching the bag. As long as he is able to keep his back foot on the bag every time it seems like a good technique. On that triple there he went feet first though and slid late. He usually doesn't go feet first so it was pretty awkward.

What is with the FoxTrax in the corner of the screen? One of my biggest pet peeves are all these needless extras that networks throw on their screens. I don't need Fox to tell me if the pitch was a ball or a strike. That's what the umpire is for.

and as shown by that last pitch, umpires are often wrong. That last pitch was not a strike.

Watching Latos pitch is like listening to Evan Frederickson start in years past, up in the count only to walk a hitter and WPs, so many unnecessary extra pitches and extra bases, which of course leads to extra runs thankfully for us Brewer fans.

It's too bad for San Deigo, this Latos has very nice velocity, he should be better than this, then again we always thought that about Parra as well.
