Last game, I predicted that Greinke would get "shelled." He didn't exactly get shelled but he did not pitch as well as people expected he would. I only said that because I felt he was still in "Spring Training" mode and needed to be stretched out a bit more before taking the hill in the majors. Tonight, since his pitch count will be a normal 100, I'm saying he will toss a gem. This should have been his original first start date.

5-2 Brewers win.

nothing like Carlos Gomez in the 2 hole to help jumpstart a struggling offense.

Not sure there is a better option right now with this line up

Yeah, we're pretty much stuck with this until Hart starts hitting. Then we can put him in the 2 hole, Lucroy 7 and Gomez 8.

It bothers me that Latos is due for a good one, but I think this is the Brewers' opportunity to turn the page mentally...back at home, the whole Greinke spectacle they've been advertising for weeks. They're too good to keep playing like they have, hopefully the good part of the season starts tonight.

Well, I really don't understand moving Gomez out of the 8-hole, but it's nice to see Hart back in there.

I think I figured out this team. To start the year the wallpaper on my comp at work was Braun and Price. They were both on fire to start, and then cooled. I took notice and changed it to Yo last Friday, and he dominated. I have now changed it to Greinke! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I will be changing it every gameday until my superstitions fail. If Greinke tosses a GEM and you want to hop on board, feel free to let me know who you think I should change it to on a daily basis.

I'm feeling good about tonight. 6-1 Brewers victory, and the start of a solid home stand against some mediocre teams.

Marcum doesn't seem to want or need much attention and he has done just fine without your help, so I'd go with Corey tomorrow.

A nice reminder that things could always be worse: the Padres have been shut out 8 times, and looking at their lineup, it's amazing they haven't been shut out more.

Here's to hoping that this is a good series to get some confidence back.

As my dad always says, "It's time for this team to make some hay!"

The next 2 series present a great opportunity to start climbing back into the race.

Gomez should still be hitting in the bottom 3rd of the order, with Hart at 6 (if he's not "ready" to hit 2nd). Gomez has had his best at-bats hitting lower, his speed is more valuable down there with lighter hitters and the pitcher and hit OBP is still sub-.300. I realize many people would argue he is a double play risk, but I believe Lucroy is best suited right now to fill the 2-spot. His lack of speed on the bases is not really a concern as they rarely run with Braun and Fielder up anyway, because they're looking for extra bases.

Plus, he actually hits the other way occasionally, so take a chance with a hit-and-run with Weeks on base to avoid a double play. His OBP is .338 (I think) and I see a budding solid hitter in many of his at-bats.

I find the hype a little ridiculous Greinke's Miller Park debut. I'm happy he's pitching but rally towels like it's a playoff game? I dunno. Maybe I'd feel differently if weren't struggling coming in here. Just seems like unneeded pressure for Greinke.

Saying that, win or die.

Well, it is a Monday night game against the Padres. Without the hype/giveaway, I'm not sure how much this game would draw in walkup sales, especially after what happened on the road trip.

really, the rest of the month does. 15 of 19 games at home looks like a great way to climb back in to things. The teams in the second half of that stretch are pretty good teams, so it has to start now with the padres and the pirates. I still believe in this team (although I've been out of the country for a week, so I haven't had to suffer like you guys), and I think it's time they put it all together. hooray optimism.

The pregame show is doing everything it can to Jinx the crew talking about how offensive the Padres offense is and how Latos isn't able to win a game... the Padres will probably go off for 8 runs tonight and Latos will pitch a 4 hitter.

Well I put money down tonight on the Brewers to win, the Brewers to score over 3.5 runs, and the game to have over 7 runs total tonight. Call it blind faith (because after that road trip, that's exactly what it is), but I have a feeling our offense is going to erupt and we'll have a fun Greinke welcome in Milwaukee.
