The approach at the plate is just awful.

I would be curious if anyone out there who is better with stats can find the average number of innings starters go against the Brewers?

McClellan only has 77 pitches through 6 and I feel like every pitcher has been going at least 6 against us.

Do the 2011 Brewers have the worst defensive left side of the infield ever? At least the worst range ever? Mcgehee: first can't cut off the infield single that Betancourt kept in the infield (but Betancourt's terrible range didn't allow him to actually make a play....Theriot made the exact same play in the top half to throw out Braun), then Mcgehee makes a terrible play not covering 3rd for the potential force. It sure must suck to be a Brewers pitcher...

To answer your question. Yes I think so. Never really liked Casey that much as a player, and his horrible D this year is really getting old. He cost us a run last inning by not covering third. If he was charging that ball I wouldn't mind, but he was just standing in between 2nd and 3rd looking lost.

Kyle McClellan is looking like Joel Pinerio out there. Reminds me of those games where Pinerio would shut out the Brewers with 2 strikeouts. He's not really fooling anyone, but everything is being hit on the ground and anything hit hard is right at a defender.

Doesn't help that the umpire keeps giving the Cards pitch after pitch.

True, but Casey needs to make that play. If you don't have range at least catch the balls right to you.

Amen brotha. Now that Gomez is batting 8th, Casey is now the #1 on my Brewers that make me shake my head way too often list.

The first time through the order we took some pitches and worked the count a little and got some guys on base. Since then we have been getting ourselves out early in the count. We seem to be too immature, or too stupid to recognize what works and what doesn't. I am so incredibly frustrated with this. Every pitcher pitches great against us. After a while I think we have to recognize that the common thread is not them, it is us. We have to change our approach to offense and defense. I don't want to here RR talk about getting more aggressive on the bases. That doesn't do any good without baserunners. Our starting pitching can hide some weaknesses, but unless our position players have some sort of epiphany we will finish about where we finished last year. I am almost too the point where I am rooting for us to lose so that we trade Prince, and maybe a couple of others, and then we can retool. As presently constituted I don't know if we can win enough games to contend. Right now this is the most unwatchable Brewer team since 2002. I am starting to miss Ken.
