Morgan's "attitude" is likely frustration with breaking a finger a few days after getting off the DL. Who wouldn't be upset?

Sure, but don't need to throw a 3rd grade temper tantrum and start kicking things over in the dugout.

Seriously? You're complaining about him being upset that he's injured? How can you not like the passion? Do you want stoic statues on our team?

I'm not going to fault Morgan at all for that. At least SOMEONE on the team is showing some fire. The team looks like they're just going through the motions, waiting for something to happen that will result in them losing a game. It's pathetic. Something needs to change and quick. On the verge of 13 and 18, losers of 6 in a row and 13 of our last 19. Good thing we're "going for it" this season.

Can someone tell us what happened to Morgan? Pretty please?
Went to sac bunt and the ball came in on him, couldn't get his fingers out of the way. Looks like he broke a couple fingers by his reaction in the dugout

I don't like sacrifice bunting there because the numbers say it generally doesn't increase the likelihood of scoring at least 1 run. It also cuts down on multirun innings. And even as late as the 8th, you often will need more than 1 run win win anyway (like today).

I don't mean to suggest there isn't a time and a place for sacrificing but RR basically sacrifices no matter WHAT the situation is. It's like his wife bought him "MLB Managing 101" and he just blindly follows its the simple rules it gave him. Sacrificing in front of two HUGE power hitting players really makes it a very bad call, IMO.

He got hit on the hand laying down a bunt. By his reaction, I'd say it's a broken finger

I would tend to agree. Bunting in front of those guys hurts in numerous ways.

1 - it gives them an open first base to walk one of them if they want (though they didn't in this situation)

2 - it hinders your chance at a big inning greatly. let Morgan hit, maybe he singles (he is hitting second for a reason right?) and we have first and third with no outs for the two

3 - one run in the 8th inning isn't necessarily going to be enough (it would be against us, but that's another story)

And obviously it looks way worse now that Morgan likely has broken fingers and can go back on the DL for a month or two. This season is sinking fast.

I hear you. I also dislike the sacrifice bunt as a matter of course. You want to trust your bullpen, but with RR managing his bullpen like Ned Yost lately, I guess you need to play for the multi-run inning, even if the hitters don't accommodate.

The Brewers might be terrible, mediocre, average or great. Hard to say at this point. They have certainly played terribly for the last week, though.

It's still hard to imagine that over the course of the year, this team will be "terrible" with as good of a starting rotation as they have.

I didn't mind the bunt there because it was Nyjer Morgan against O'Flaherty.

Hopefully it's just the pain that's making him act like he broke it. But he's a hockey player so I suspect its legit.

The thought of Gomez in the 2-hole for another month makes me want to throw things.

If you look at the table I linked to earlier, you aren't even optimizing your odds to get at least one run either, on average. You are just taking those multirun innings and shifting them to one run and zero run innings. It's like this secret that no one has told traditional managers like RR.

Anyone else not renew season tickets and not regretting it at all?
I didn't renew and am 0-3 in the games I've attended so far. Add that to their start and I'm not exactly torn up about it, no.

I look forward to Gomez back in the 2 spot tomorrow, bunting away. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

....and Kimbrel is only 22

The check swing K's tell the story with this guy. He has hitters guessing up there.

Why does losing 6 in a row seem so easy for this team but winning 6 in a row feels virtually impossible?
