Wisconsin native Adam Frost released by Royals

Wisconsin (Sobieski, St. Norbert) native Adam Frost was recently released by the Royals. Frost, an infielder, was signed as a free agent by the Royals after being Northern League rookie of the year in 2009. He never got more than part time duty at Burlington (Midwest) and Wilmington (Carolina) where he hit a combined .250/.298/.408, with 21 stolen bases in 2010.

He got almost no opportunity this year, appearing in just 5 games for Wilmington prior to his release, going 3 for 14. In his final game, he stole 3 bases.

Here's hoping at 24 he'll get a chance somewhere else. He's played 2B, SS, 3B, and CF in his minor league career.

JB12, Frost just signed with the St. Paul Saints of the independent American Association.

It definitely is nice to be able to cheer for locals, regardless of where you may be from. Tampa Bay reliever Brandon Gomes made a successful big league debut Tuesday night -- he's a local Massachusetts kid from my wife's hometown who was drafted by the Padres out of Tulane and was dealt to the Rays in the Jason Bartlett trade. I think those types of attachments will always have meaning for locals, especially from non-traditional baseball hotbeds.
