Not only will we lose this one, I have a feeling this day is going to get so much worse. Greinke will get shelled today. Too many good lefties for the Braves to face him in his first game back.
The Brewers are huge favorites, so use that intuition and put your money where you mouth is. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I'd bet but it's probably not condoned here. I will be rooting for him, obviously, but I'm fairly certain he will have a horrible first start. I'm not saying this to spark people, but rather because his minor league starts were pretty unimpressive and this Braves lineup is potent. I hope I'm wrong, but just remember who said it first.

Agree with the OP. When you "Ace" has an ERA over 6 and there is little to no production other than Braun and Price there is cause for concern. Pair that with the fact that it is basically World Series or bust this year, and you can see why some members of this board think they are under achieving. Yes it is early and yes we have some player coming back, but I see what the OP is saying. Did anyone hope we would be "hovering around .500" at this point when the season began?

Like I said, I thought we would be around .500. We were without our all-star RF with basically nobody close to matching his production in his place. We were also without our starting catcher for a few weeks, one of our backend bullpen guys (Hawkins), and our true ace. Then we lost our setup man the first week. I don't see how you could expect anything more than .500. Not to mention we've lost a lot of very close games, especially late in the game, we could easily be a few games over .500. So I don't see a reason to panic. Also, we're not the Yankees or Red Sox, so our mentality should not be World Series or bust. Focus on making the playoffs and then anything can happen from there.

All I said was I agree with the OP that the team is frustrating to watch right now. I am actually surprised we were ever above .500 the way this team is playing and with the injuries. I was trying to say that I guarantee no one expected this team to be where they are now or look like they do when the season, refering to spring training, started.

As far as the world series or bust comment. When a team empties the farm for two starting pitchers and sells out for one year that is world series or bust in my opinion. We have the worst farm system in baseball now. If we don't make a run this year it isn't happening for a long time.

We also have a lot of our players locked up long-term. Basically next year we will be losing Prince but replacing him with Gamel. We'll still have pieces for next year and I'm guessing one of Marcum/Greinke will also be extended beyond next year. I might agree that right now there's a 2 year window (without an extension to Greinke/Marcum) but I wouldn't consider this season a disappointment if we don't win the World Series.

I think this is compounding the frustration, for me at least. This is the most talented team the Brewers have ever put together in my lifetime, and thus far they are playing like they'd be lucky to finish the year over .500. Yes, I know it's early, but for a team we've pinned so much hope on, boy do they look bad.

Did we really give up Inman, Garrison, and Thatcher for half a season of Linebrink?
Not only that, but he saw the mound so rarely you'd think he kicked Ned Yost's dog. Three prospects for 25 1/3 innings pitched?

Just got home and see that Weeks was charged with another error? He's had a rough start defensively.
