2011-05-04 Brewers (Estrada) at Braves (Hanson) - Game 1 - 3:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 8-3]

That rally towel idea is cheesy. As if the stadium won't already be full of energy. The Brewers really seem to be marketing Greinke heavily, more so than any other acquisition that I can remember.

So far, I've seen an 85-win team playing like an 85-win team. Honestly, there have been very few surprises this year, almost everyone is performing as expected, minus Gallardo.

I do hate losing streaks though, looks like Greinke is going to have to be the "stopper" already tonight unless the offense wakes up today.

I'm sure Rick Schlesinger has his fingers crossed that Greinke doesn't show up like a dud early on in the season aka Gallardo or internally there will be people sweating.

I think it's basically just a quick and easy way to give the fans some kind of memento for Greinke's first start and to get more fans to the game who otherwise wouldn't be going. I don't mind it.

That's generous in my book. So far I've seen our Ace and our 3B/#5 hitter disappear and everyone else play to about expectations save Wolf. Me personally, I've seen a .500 team to date.

No problem if they're sweating - they'll have a towel! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Agree with the OP. When you "Ace" has an ERA over 6 and there is little to no production other than Braun and Price there is cause for concern. Pair that with the fact that it is basically World Series or bust this year, and you can see why some members of this board think they are under achieving. Yes it is early and yes we have some player coming back, but I see what the OP is saying. Did anyone hope we would be "hovering around .500" at this point when the season began?

Like I said, I thought we would be around .500. We were without our all-star RF with basically nobody close to matching his production in his place. We were also without our starting catcher for a few weeks, one of our backend bullpen guys (Hawkins), and our true ace. Then we lost our setup man the first week. I don't see how you could expect anything more than .500. Not to mention we've lost a lot of very close games, especially late in the game, we could easily be a few games over .500. So I don't see a reason to panic. Also, we're not the Yankees or Red Sox, so our mentality should not be World Series or bust. Focus on making the playoffs and then anything can happen from there.

Touche.

Bases loaded. This one might get out of hand real soon.

Not only will we lose this one, I have a feeling this day is going to get so much worse. Greinke will get shelled today. Too many good lefties for the Braves to face him in his first game back.

Why is our LOOGY still in?

If I'm Roenicke I let him pitch another inning at least. We have about a 0.1% chance of winning this game with our offense as it currently is, even if the Braves don't score another run. Why waste any more bullpen arms then you have to?

I am not Shea Vucinich

We need Bob Gibson to teach Prince how to not fraternize with the other team during the middle of a 4 run inning
Maybe they are talking about which team he will be playing for in August?

The Brewers are huge favorites, so use that intuition and put your money where you mouth is. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
